Martin O Neill was very unhappy at Southampton not playing O Halloran in their last game as several clubs were looking fo him on loan.
I see Joe O'Cearuill has signed for Pats. I thought he played well against Bulgaria. Interesting to see how he gets on.

City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

G.O'Mahoney Trapattoni'll sort ém out!!
I raelly thought our U21s did really well on the ball in the 1st half against England. The best passing and link up I've seen from them at that level in a long time. We really looked the classier side imho. As soon as we lost the ball though they easily caught us on the break with our team of 4 attackers and a disorganised defence.

would agree with that. there was some shocking poor defending (as well as goalkeeping errors) that night. Would also say that an effectively 3 man midfield with Stephen Quinn as one of the 3 was a pretty poor decision by Don Givens, was easily overrun when we didn't have the ball and didn't protect the defence enough.
I like Quinn as a player but, like his older brother, I think he's just far too lightweight to be playing as a CM.
"Well I think they'll be a little disappointed with that" - Matt Holland on TV3 after 5-2 drubbing by Cyprus
Probably true. He's more suited to the centre than Jim O'Brien though who was also part of the 3 man midfield against England. Crazy decision by Givens.
Jayz, I can't believe ye lads.
The game at Turners Cross?
Ireland were completely over-run imo.

Definitely not imo. 2nd half was poor but I thought we looked excellent on the ball in the 1st half.
Givens:
"It's never happened to me before, going 3-0 down and feeling like the better team."
I'd have to agree with that. I really did think we looked the classier team. As strange as that sounds going 3 nil down after half an hour. We just dominated possession in the first half and played decent football. England had 3 breaks and they took them.
That was their gameplan though. If they took the game to Ireland it they might have outplayed us obviously.

I think Brian Marwood was co-commentating for SKY. He pretty much said the same. 3 English attacks, 3 goals. They barely had to work for any of them.
First goal was an absolute howler by Randolph after 5 minutes. England's next attack was Noble capitalising on sloppy defending and even worse was Noble's shot which was deflected by O'Dea I think.
We played well enough but Hart played well in goal for England and most of our attacks were very laboured I thought. Stokes took too much out of the ball at times and was careless with his passing.
There were good parts in our performance but I thought the age gap showed. England were at least a year older than us in almost every position.
Yeah I was at the game and I thought that Ireland played well but the system exposed the weakness down the right side on the defence. Agree with Stuttgart and Eirebhoy on this. I was impressed with a good few of the lads but the game could easily have been 3-3 at half time.
In Trap we trust
I was hoping to go but I definitely won't be now. Will the game be on tv? I thought sky showed all England U21 games but may be wrong.
My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method, is love. I love you Sheriff Truman.

it's down on the schedule as U19
Tommy Burns today:
“That meant he had to be patient again, but he’s not the only young player who has impressed. Jim O’Brien has been sensational in training with the first-team and was all set to play in a big game that got cancelled over Christmas."
I have to say he's never stuck out to me as a player with great potential. He's out of contract in the summer and will probably leave Celtic.
Just checking the trains from London to Southampton for Tuesday's game.
Getting there in time after work should be easy enough for me, getting home trickier.
Where in Southampton is St. Mary's?
Is Southampton Central the best station? How far is it from the ground?
The last train from Southampton Central back to London is 10.00pm (unless you take the slower train which takes 2.5 hours).
Is anyone driving back to London?
I was embarressed to be honest. Its one thing that I wasted €50 to go to 2 games where Givens' team had not the slightest idea how to contain their opposition, another that myself and Micls were seemingly the only people in our stand who paid to get in, but to have that kind of drivel spouted flying in the face of the people whodid turn up and who did witness how pathetic the team was, its an insult.
though I did enjoy watching Portugal and had a good chat with some of their fans. Gave them discount tickets for the City game a few days later and the ones staying in the country seemed enthusiastic

I just find it irritating that our U21 team has long since ceased to be a team representative of our best U21 talent. Results have been crap as a consequence and it's demoralising. Furthermore it gives the likes of Roy Keane and Frank the Plank a reason to point that there's nothing coming through and that there's no reason to think the future is decent. It also gives Givens a tailor made excuse for poor results (ah sure my job is to develop individuals for the senior team not to actually beat Montenegro).
I'd like this team to be taken seriously again as I think being competitive at this level is probably a better way of building for the future than ad hoc promotions to the senior team. When U21 players are ready it should be obvious.
I read Andy Keogh saying that training with Robbie Keane was a big help to him so that's clearly the flipside.
