    This Week's Champion

Lads, I'm surprised that no one has commented on articles in this weeks champion in relation to Rovers. Top of the page Cookie cries out for funds to strengthen the squad and in the article directly underneath is the alarming news that the 400 Club committee have steped down. This is very disturbing news which I would expect will rock the showgrounds. They say they are making way for fresh blood to come along and take up from where they have left off but is there any people among us that can/will take on this huge challange?

Also if what I'm hearing regarding some management committee members not going forward for election at the next AGM it throws up all kinds of worrying aspects especially when there doesn't appear to be anyone willing to put their name forward as replacements.

Cookie is looking for a bigger budget for next year but will there be a strong committee to deliver?

didnt see champion myself as exiled.I know there is a lot on but the trust or another supporters club could take up the runnnig of club 400 for the club. This would be a major help to the club going forward and would give the scheme fresh impetus. The problem with club 400 is the lack of information coming out of it in terms of winners, funds raised etc etc. it should have it's own section on the club website with a downloadable application form etc etc.

Not good news if people step off MC with nobody to replace. It's a daunting task for any individual but if a group of 4/5 like minded individuals went forward together then that could be a good step forward.

Anybody know when AGM is on ? January ?

Definitely agree with that...I don't even fully understand what it is as it's poorly promoted
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

yeah unforunately i know a good few people that were never invited to re-join it after they did it the first time and people never got regular newsletter they were promised. It's all well and good saying if people want to join ,contact this person but people either dont have time or just forget. However all of the club400 administration does take alot of time and I dont think the resources were there to be fair. With a small bit of new effort and impetus this could be run very efficiently by a small group.

The 400 club has been on the go the last four or five years. It has averaged around 60,000 euros per season since it started. That could take three or four players out of the budget if it is not restarted.

Since this time last year we have lost 2 team managers, 2 event controllers, I know of 3 management committee who stood down over the season, some may have rejoined again. Now the 400 club committee is gone. The CPO has stepped down. A number of management committee members are not going forward again. Something is very wrong.
Does anyone know if there is a common denominator in all this?

As much as I'd like to play the blame game here I don't think it's a case of pointing the finger and saying there lays the problem. This whole synario has to be looked at realistically. We're talking about an organisation which is run by an amature set-up. To expect people to give their time freely week in week out and then expect them to produce the goods is basically the reason why there's no que waiting to join the management committee. If one is to attribute blame then one would have to look at the structures of the club. It the reasent past some very good individuals have gone on the committee but have departed the scene nearly as quick when they realise it's neigh impossible to make changes. I think when as is the case of Rovers you mix business with pleasure it's a receipe for failure. Like minded people like ourselves are on the committee and the reason they are there is because they love the club more that those that support the club but wouldn't in their wildest dreams put their name forward for the committee. Unfortunately love alone wont constitute success.
Paul Cook is probabally the best manager this club has ever had at it's disposal, unfortunately I think he has come a tat too early as the club is just not ready yet to take the step forward which is required.
Behind the scenes in the showgrounds there are a whole lot of good things happening, unfortunately it will take time and time in the case of Paul Cook is exactly the something we don't have.

If you don't mind, I'll reserve judgement on that.
