As Tets said elsewhere, Arie Haan's biggest plus factor is that he's not Terry Venables!

I dont know, its a reasonably high profile job in europe, and as he said, he wants to be in europe. If he is genuine about what he says in the sunday sh1tewipe above, then he would be ideal. I like the idea of a dutchman (is martin Jol stil in the frame/was he ever?) in charge and I think it would be the change that may turn things around. If we are to have a chance of qualifying a very fresh approach is needed - he'd get my vote anyways.

Can't believe that, club experience in Europe and international football. Interest in managing Ireland. As all the rumoured managers find jobs, I get more and more despondant. We need a definite managerial candidate that the fans can get behind and soon.

He has found his correct level there. We need to make sure we dont get our heads turned by overseas managers like Haan and Troussier. Hodgson, Houllier and O'Leary are my top 3.

Arie Haan has a better chance of getting somewhere with Albania than he would have with our dis-organised rabble. Should be easier to knock them into a decent team.

Am glad he didn't figure in the Ireland shakeup - his record across Europe isn't exactly stellar, he seemingly has trouble with staying in one job for an extended period of time & that whole palava with his agent just seemed more mercenary than necessary. A dutch manager would be nice, but not any old idiot with a pair of clogs

Because they've managed in England, silly. And, as everyone knows, England is not overseas.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

my point was that just because someone is from another country doesnt mean they are good managers. I'd apply this to Paul Jewell too

There is another good Dutch manager with a similar name who is very interested in the job, he is willing
to bend over backwards to show his credentials to the FAI, he's called Arie Harse.

The FAI are looking into it.

The Dutch have a great reputation for being arrogant egomaniacs. Which is why they have never won the World Cup

Tip for you, you'll find sarcasm under "S" in the dictionary. Look it up sometime.
