    From his wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arie_Haan
Recently, he became trainer of Cameroon national team, however he resigned less than six months into a two-year contract citing interference from the president of Cameroon Football Federation Mohammed Iya as the reason
Wonder what he'll make of Delaney?

Also, interesting his title was "trainer", not manager.

i think we're getting on the anyone but Venables wagon here.
I dont rate haan record as an international manager in comparison to Hodgsons.
Hodgson is a much better candidate than this guy.

Why are we all so keen on him. His attributes seem to be:

He's Dutch and was a good player, (Stan was a good player too).

He's managed a huge number of teams to variable success.

But his most important attribute is that the common punter wouldnt know who he is. Therfore people advociating him can appear very well informed. In reality his record is no better than Venables' He has never managed at a major tournament finals.

And should he triumph after a nerve jangling cliff-hanger of an interview process :

    Delaney offers Haan relief
On the way into the stadium, an elderly San Marino Steward waved us in and said "Tonight, may the best team win"

    And they nearly did.

Ladies and Gentlemen put your Hann's together for the new Ireland manager. If Delaney gives Hann job jesus just think what Stan would of had to do for the big lad!!

The thing I think Arie Haan has going for him is being Dutch, his EGO will be much bigger than any of the Overpaid Premier League Primadonnas who may wish to put on a green shirt. Perhaps that is what is needed

European Cup semi-final with Anderlecht, European Cup final with Stuttgart...Asian Cup final with China...
Didn't get the opportunity to qualify for a World Cup with China or Cameroon...

    He has a good agent.
He managed to get a long enough interview with RTE on the 11am sports news and I am none the wiser
His English isn't fluent and (a bit like Charlton) he was not in tune with the complicated long winded questions of a sports presenter.
If he does a bit of groundwork on the interview panel he could do a good interview but he sounded a bit too wooly to make an impression.
He want us to have the Irish spirit with a Dutch influence on the play
Thinks Italy can be caught on the hop.
I don't know what to make out of his coaching/managerial record.
At least he doesn't like to be unemployed.
I couldn't make out what he saying about China, not a great team, shipping late goals (like us), with Cameroon something about not adjusting to the country.
