It's a little bit late, but I've found this thread only now: I want to say, it was a fantastic atmosphere in Mainz! Great irish fans. So loud, so funny, so peaceful, friendly (and so drunken ). Absolutely great support for Ireland! I think nearly 3.500 irish fans was in the stadium. They sang 90 minutes - that was f***ing brilliant!
So I was absolutely remunerated for the long journey to the match (13 hours from Rostock by train - and the same back).
Did any of you lot join in the Georgian protest march up to the stadium. I know it was a serious matter for the Georgians but we had a good laugh and the georgians really appreciated the fact we joined them. The german cops found it amusing to see a group of well oiled Paddy's chanting 'Russia go home'
There'll be snow on that one.
I would have joined the protest in support of Russia but it may not have gone down well.
