Hey lopez, who flies to Brindisi and from where? Just had a quick look online and seems to be about 100km from Bari? Is there a train service or other connection do you know? Thanks.

    FKK it, loss my nerve

Because of Today FM going into a bit of detail and not just a one liner, the above references, the Bari connection to the personnel in Italian FA, the difficulty in getting to Bari, difficulty for good good hotels and the fact I will only be doing a tue-thur and so cant swan around Italy all week i have booked one way flights (E75) and hotels - not a great choice for hotels and Italy can be very hit and miss but at least you can cancel hotel

After I booked I see the FAI are urging fans not to make travel arrangement until offical confirmation although they have informal confirmation? Today FM reports now carry the FAI advice

    http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2008/1231/ireland.html

it may have been better if they posted it on their web site - Awe well I took the chance, may be able to sort something out if its not Bari. Will wait for offical confirmation until i book the return

They really are determined to make us sweat on the venue, and wait as long as possible. The Germans told us we'd be playing in Stuttgart within a month of the date being announced.

Interesting to see if the tour companies charge €800 for this trip, when the demand falls.

We'll book a room for you with us. We're flying Monday via Milan. What day are you arriving. Do you want a single or twin?

One of the lads has your ph number so I'll ring you over weekend. Happy new year from me, the missus and the girls!!

    Is Seamus travelling with you?

We are on belfast to milan on the tue(goin there) & reverse trip on thur(20.45). Due to this 3 of will spend tue night/wed morning in ,malpensa airport & i now i know this is cheeky but would anyone one be willing to let 3 boys have a a few hours kip in their bari hotel(we will pay you) during the match day(for a coulpe of hours 12.30 -4 to sleep/shower) & maybe that night (when we win there will be no need for it - will be locked(but like to cover all base's)

    Surprise to who??

They put the Scots in Bari, so it was always a possibility.

Decent stadium afaik, athletic track, good location weatherwise, so not bad. Poor though for the travel agents and press corps, who banked on Milan/Rome, and hiked their prices as a result. €800 - WTF????

Likely to be 20.00 I would of thought, You should be alright even with a hours delay - taxi direct from airport ?

    Tartan Army in Bari

Looking at various clips on utube, the Scots really seemed to enjoy Bari.Given the time of year and southerly location, beers on the beach look a distinct possibility. Also the stadium looks class, and the locals generated a real football atmosphere. The Scots end wasn't full, but other sides were packed.Try, italia v Scozia a Bari ,on utube.

    gufct,

4 of us booked into the Mercure as well.

To anyone else, I'd advise getting booking hotels in Bari asap as there aren't many. Also in a Ryanair stylee, most hotels in Bari are nearly in Foggia.

Looked at the Mercure but decided on the Boston - as its right in the centre
