Surely cant go too far wrong by booking milan now for relatively cheap, approx 150. Surely an internal flight could be got, for an overall cheaper price than direct to say Rome, if thats where it is confirmed.

    Thumbs up Not so cheap!

Internal flights are far from cheap. We took an each way bet by booking flights to Bologna, roughly equidistant between Rome and Milan, 125 euro return.Train to Milan every 22 minutes, 28 euro single, 1 hour 45 mins.Turin is now ruled out ,as Del alpi is under reconstruction, Naples ain't gonna get it,so take your pick SAN SIRO or OLIMPICO.Given Milans greater capacity, 85000, as against 72000 in Rome,we would be entitled to 1300 extra tickets. Both Stadiums are fantastic, but for football, its hard to touch San Siro, no running track, and incredibly steep stands.Imagine, much smaller pitch than Croker, but 16000 more seats!

Italian trains are/were relatively cheap if that helps. Look on http://www.seat61.com for links to their website.

And by the time we play them, will Alitalia even still exist?

PS.Everyone's who's been says Milan's a kip. Especially for football!

Trains can be slow though. 8 hours it took me to get from Rimini to Rome last year, with the connecting train two hours late and losing another hour or so on the trip.

two cheap options: 1)ryanair via stansted or some other european airport (they fly all over italy)

or 2)fly anywhere in italy and take the train.... usually fast and reliable, especially between major cities.

ill be looking at flying to bologna on the monday, then getting the train to rome on the tuesday..as sub of the day said it is nice and central, so in the event it is in milan its just as easy to get a train!

I was in San Siro early last year for an Inter game and the atmosphere was incredible. Its quite an old stadium but i think its been refurbished somewhat since the recent trouble they had there. Upper tier is crazy steep and italians dont seem to believe in taking the 'seat' (very old style tubs) you're allocated, it was free for all. Would recommend it and wont mind going back there, great views from all parts of the stadium. Good transport links from the city centre as well so very easy to get to.

I think i have read here it is by the end of this year, however it is likely that it will be annouced earlier.

I wonder would it help if someone who could type Italian emails the Italian Football federation?

Ridiculous growing rumour that the game is currently pencilled in for Turins 'Olimpico' stadium...capacity 27,500.

    Surely that's a **** take

I have written 'italian' letters before to Italian clubs.

    press@figc.it

There is the email address of the press and public relations officer of the Italian Football Federation.

If you could email them and ask them when the venue for the Ireland game is to be announced, and relay the response here that would be great.

    Thanks

Surely they will deal with an E-mail written in English (even by you stiffler) . Now Irish might present more problems for them
