Why will it have to be? Some teams might favour a smaller away support

I doubt the Italians are too woriied about the Irish support in all fairness.

We will have a big away support wherever it is. The big group games take place in the biggest stadiums, and Delaney will no doubt push for a big stadium to accommodate our fans.

Putting us in Palermo would be the equivalent of playing our home game against the Italians in Turners Cross. It will be Milan, Rome, or as an outsider, Naples.

Ah, I dont know. Had a ball there in 1990. Apart from the 24 hour alcohol ban.

According to the FIFA Competition Rules (see Article 18, Page 22), it is at least three months in advance for the venue to be notified and at least 60 days for the kick-off time to be notified.

lads was in italy there about 3 years ago and had no problems with the rail service, actually found it really easy to get around despite what other posters have said here.

flights will be up on the aer lingus website within the next 2 months. Rome is the best bet at the moment!! if the game is confirmerd for Cagliari or Palermo im sure there will be cheap flights to be picked up from early on from Rome!!

hopefully the game wont be in Milan!! not a great place to go out and enjoy a few pints!! (actually there isnt many pubs)

i did get 3 bottles of Vodka for €24 there thou in a supermarket

Better of with Ryanair to Milan, they fly from Milan to Rome, Bari, Brindisi, Palmero and Cagliari. It seems to be there biggest base.

    Italy (away)

Does anybody know which city in Italy will chosen for the Irish match next April? It's a complete joke that they get so long to decide where their matches will be played.

No announcement yet. They dont have to announce until three months before the game, so January at the latest. Probably Rome or Milan but they've played home games in other cities too so its hard to call.
