Dont think it will be that bad, its midweek, its 1st April (it could be ****ing down/cold) and Paris was easier to get to than Rome/Milan/wherever in Italy.

Cant see as many going this time, not the way the country is at the moment, it being on a wednesday should cut down the numbers too.

Must admit there was a great atmosphere though when french anthem being sang in Paris, one of the very few highlights that campaign

Ah yes but if you mention going to Rome/Paris other halfs immediately imagine romantic strolls in spring/summer/autumn (delete as necessary) sunshine and sitting in open air cafe enjoying the warm weather and a nice meal. Rather than sit in your hotel room and watch the rain pelting down a la Friday in Bratislava.

Never bring another half to a football match. Disaster, what happens if they get a taste for it and want to come all the time or even worse you break up and she likes it so much she goes independently of you and you see her at every Ireland match getting off with some lecherous Irish overweight drunk like me. Its not worth it I tell ya.

I just take one or both of the children on the trips, so as to give "the Lady a bit of peace"......although now they are aged 22 and 20, not sure how long my cover story will hold water!

Guess what did that in 99, and you're right the only games got to on my own since 02 were Tel Aviv - scared of big guns, and Oslo

Mind you at least the kids pay thier own way now they are big and bold, talking about bringing boyfriends in the future

I think this one will be a good trip. I am delighted its a midweek fixture as that will cut down on the Sc*m that was in bratislavia. The crowd that was in mainz and Podgorica were well behaved and a pleasure to be with so maybe thats a good to thing to come out of the recession.

My mate was like lets boo this! I was like no way **** take in store. Class! And the after party at the moulin Rouge, with tourist buses snapping at us. Mind you, at the eifel tower day of the match. People actually asked me for photo's with them because they thought i looked like Rooney, They sang that to me to!!

When you say "We're going to Italy", approach the subject to pinky gently, and em tell her we don't know whereabouts yet.

Stonewall game for Milan/Rome, so might be a good idea to fly to Florence, (or in Ryanair speak, "Pisa") and travel on the train to the venue on the day. Pinky'll even see some of Italy on the way!!

Anyone know how long in advance do ryanair put their flights up for sale? Nothing yet up for the Italy game dates. Thinking i might take a chance on milan with Aer Lingus. 150 return.

Absoloutely, this should be banned other halves are only allowed go on trips such as Cyprus, that your mates aren't going on, kills two birds with one stone
