Well, for this one, it looks like a choice between Milan, Rome, or Naples.

Prefer Milan. If the current footballing climate continues in Italy we'd be better off avoiding Rome. Milan is a superb city. Presume this will be the event junkies away!

palermo! catania! atalanta! a motorway service station!

lets all have lots of fun.

seriously though, the italian national fans will probably keep far enough away. i never heard anything about their fans being particularly nasty. in most cases of fan violence in italy (but by no means all) it's like england used to be in that if you want **** you can get it, but otherwise it's not too bad. i would anticipate more trouble in bulgaria. from what i've heard the mafia can be pretty dodgy over there.

Been to Milan a good few times (including the San Marino trip) so Naples or Rome is my preference.

Going over the statistics for the last five qualifiers (Euro & World Cup), Italy have used 14 different venues, inluding a lot of what could be classified as provincial cities. So we could end up anywhere. Rome has only been used once. Milan has been used once in each of the last four qualifying campaigns, seems to be used for games that might draw a big crowd. If they continue to rotate as they have in the past, a few of the bigger cities that haven't been used in a while for competitive games would include Florence, Turin, Verona, Udine and Bologna.

are they all seater? i don't think verona is. anyway, ryanair fly to most of those cities from dublin, so it's all good. and treviso isn't that far from udine.

I'd imagine they are all, all seater. As far as I know all Serie A and B grounds are all seater at this stage.

There will be a massive away support in Italy, so there's no question imo, that the stadia used for our game there will be one that can hold 80k, of which only 3 of them would be available.

Milan would seem to be the favoured stadium for games with potentially big crowds.
