    Short memory

Ollie is a city legend in my opinion. He single handedly kept us entertained for about 3 seasons. I think it's utterly childish to call ex-players Judas etc. Especially if you remember that he never once gave less than 100% in a city shirt, alot more than can be said for his replacement, and some others in the present team.

thanks conor, my point exactly, the club didnt want him to go,he left of his own accord for more money,

it would be alot different if the club forced him out,

remember when d hill came back with bohs, got a great reception bcoz he didnt want to leave,

then again he did get some kind of abuse if i remember rightly!!!

is part of the game. the fans are going to do their bit to help the City cause. but sometimes people go too far. should end when the whistle blows and he leaves the pitch.

i didn't have a problem with him leaving as much as the way he did it. he slagged off the club publicly and the fans for not getting behind the team in the echo on a number of occasions. he put himself publicly in the shop window very early in the season. all season we had to read about how he was going to scotland, who was interested. there's a lot to be said for going quietly (coughlan went at the same time, and to Bohs and he doesn't incite the same vitriol).

i wouldn't fault his effort on the pitch for the most part (except for when he kept drifting inside and switching off) and i don't know anyone who wouldn't rate him as a great city player.

In the end though, if you leave a club that worship you (and we did) for money, the fans are not going to like you, it's something he'll have to put up with.

    Ollie..

I agree with Niamh...its only natural that City fans are going to give the guy a slagging because he was one of the best players ever to play for our club..and i also agree with Ali-G who says that Ollie is a legend when it comes to Cork City FC..its all part of the game and if the slagging gets to him enough like it did last year come Friday night ,hopefully he will have another quiet game, because if there is anyone who knows how good Ollie is,its the fans of City...

I agree with Ali G about Ollie keeping us entertained for 3 seasons but what about his last 3 seasons at City? I'm not sure if he gave 100% then.

On this returning player/judas/traitor thing I think we should forget about it after the players first visit to the cross with his new club. Its great the first time but after that it gets a bit boring. Lets just treat Ollie etc just like another jackeen !

If you dont know what you are talking about then dont talk at all. City held talks with OlliŁ and he expressed that he other offers and if they werent matched he was on his bike. Lennox siad right so fcuk off. City could have stretched the budget to hang onto a player of his class but he didnt have the desire win a title in a city jersey so cheerio.

He was superb but showed no loyalty to the club or fans who idolised him as a player. He deserves all he gets.

Reynolds likewise for his comments after moving to Dublin. What a silly, silly boy........

Soko your a ckeeky c**t.I stand by my point. At the time we were going nowhere and Ollie was carrying us. How much does money really have an influence in the El??!!It's not as if he's set-up for life cos he went to Shels. You're telling me that if you were doing more work than anyone else in your job and you were'nt being paid for it you would be happy to stay????

Does anyone remember Ollie's last game for City? It was against Shels in Tolka, he scored the goal that stopped Shels from winning the league, and put in a man-of-the-match performance. And at that stage, there were very strong rumours that he was joining Shels in the close season. That didnt stop him from ruining their league campaign. The man was an utter pro to the city cause from the first game he played until the last. That's what I call a city legend....
I know he left City because Shels offered more money, but if you are honest, at the time they also offered more scope for Ollie to improve his game, there was more competition for places, they had a brighter future, it was a new challenge. Would you begrudge anyone (in any profession) that chance?

IMO, most players naturally enough will rise to the highest attainable level.
Do you think the team you have would stay there if you were strictly amateur?
Fans are loyal - its a pasttime to us - for a player, its his livelihood. If the factory down the road offered me twice as much for my services, do you think I'd say "No, I'm staying loyal to the firm who doesn't value my abilities as highly"?

It's not like he didn't give us some service, he still played for CIty even though we knew he was off to pastures green I think that because we made no money off the sale people fell that it was for nothing. Cork city are only in the last year getting going he was 12months ahead in terms of trying to be a pro.

Ollie may have gone to Shels but as a player he's not as good as his early days even for Shels. just an opinion.

Great the way the Judas money thing comes up if he came back would these people be screaming the same thing????

Reynolds went for the money now that is a Judas he is one player I'd be gutted if he came back no matter if he is good or not.
    It's only just begun...............

Yeah, wasn't his last home game that 5-1 against Monaghan ( to finally score at home after about 20 years !) and the last game for City was away to Derry?
I think trax is out by a season.
I agree that Ollie got his slagging and deservedly so, but he is old news know and did not really do anything bad or dishonourable to the club. He moved on when he tought the time was right.

He is not in the glassblowers league of treachery !
