However yesterday he did say "I don't want to sound Irish but the season starts in January" on R5Live. I wasn't sure whether I should get all indignant or not!

to the whole poxy thing. I wish venables would just pis s off. Nothing in it for him except a big paycheck to finish his career.
I
Saw this in the BBC website gossip section:
Terry Venables is in the frame to take over as Fulham boss after the sacking of Lawrie Sanchez. (Independent)
Apparently El Tel doesn't like a foreigner being appointed as English coach. Does that mean we should tell him to clear off?

Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
I saw that!
In fairness I think the context is that it's a sad indictment if the major football nations can't produce their own manager.
baffles me how Englandcant produce any decent managers!
'How can I hate women, my Mums one!!!' Chris Finch
fantastic news. hope he gets fulham job.

Jason McAteer was on the sofa for Sky on Sunday morning. Is currently the reserve coach at Tranmere but would like the Irish U21 job. He reckons Don Givens will be moving up to assist whoever is appointed and he thinks that will be El Tel.

Venables is been backed heavily again today to get the job.
I am not a ramper here ( I will win small moeny if venables gets the job but lots more if hoddle, sanchez, coppell or klinsmann got it) but a former Irish international was telling a colleague of mine over bthe weekend that venables HAS BEEN OFFERED THE JOB.
He is on holidays at the moment and is due to let the FAI know his decision this week.
You can think what u like but I am confident that venables will either be a complete Non runner or our new manager by next weekend.
Today's Indo is saying the panel will provide the FAI with their recommendation on Jan 22. The short list contains Brady, Hoddle and Venables.
Has there been any rumors that they have spoken to Sanchez?
key term there was ''next weekend'' Neil you smart arse
I backed Hodgson and Houllier at 40/1 (both dead bets now) Hoddle at 12/1(now 16/1!) and Coleman at 50/1. So it must be Venables or Brady.
If true, I can't understand how Houllier is not being considered.
