As I have no interest in purchasing a used washing machine or 1986 Datsun Sunny, or the activities of "super" "models" Glenda Gilson and/or Katie French, I don't read the Herald, but it's nice to know that 'sports' 'journalist' Mr Hyland reads frequently.

Even if he were to be the only one online at any given time, that would still mean that we pretty much had 100% more interested readers than his column does.

(Unless he writes the dog results too, in which case, there are 4 oul boys in a bookies in Clondalkin that are big fans.)
On the way into the stadium, an elderly San Marino Steward waved us in and said "Tonight, may the best team win"

    And they nearly did.

So it's a gang up is it, not a bunch of underwhelmed concerned supporters doing their bit to point out why there may be better candidates? Is that what he said?

Off topic the word coming out of Navan is that she's dead the poor girl. No official announcement yet though.

    Coppell

We don't have a competitive match until next August/September and even the Brazil friendly isn't until the end of February.

If Coppell is serious, he could have time to recharge his batteries and still take the Ireland job.

Personally, I would love to see him take the job. I was disappointed that Jewell didn't take it. They are both excellent at getting the best out of average players and getting them to play as a team with real spirit.

In all honesty, while we have some class players (Given, Keane, McGeady), we are always going to have a few honest professionals who aren't top class.

I really think that a manager with a track record of getting the best out of a team is required. Hodgson would be great as would Coppell.

Apart from anything else, I don't want Venables because he has no track record of this. With top class players i.e. England and Barcelona he was fine. When he was limited in his choice of players i.e. Australia, he didn't achieve much.

Thats good to hear, the boys on newstalk seem to be against venables getting the job for the most part. What are the chances of Delaney or anybody from the FAI listening to the show?
This is not the best signature in the world, this is just a tribute

Was on all the sunday newsapapers lad.

I have great time for Keane as a player however on this issue I would not agree.

Put it simply, I would rather the man on the street being in charge of the Irish football team then Venables.

Not for the life of me do I want him in charge of Ireland

Why start a thread on this? Who cares what Roy Keane thinks? He left us in our hour of ... :-) .. seriously, lets leave Roy Keane out of this whole process and trying to get his approval.

If it's any interest/relevance, Clinton Morrison came out in support of El Tel in last week's London Evening Standard.

Don't have the link, but iirc, he also reiterated how much he still wanted to play for ROI, hinting that he wasn't too fond of Staunton (something like "he called me briefly once to say I wasn't in the squad and I never heard from him again"?)
