Depends if he wants to come back. Most plyrs in his place would choose to give it another go With pretty much any club.Would be great to see him back though.

He d be a good signing but to be honest i think he would be more of a backup player than a first teamer. And as already highlighted on this board we have plenty of cover for the first team and what we should be looking for is players that will be brought into the first team straight off. I remember seeing him playing for city a few years ago in a few pre season friendlies and i cant help but think that he still is the frail, wimpy looking player i saw a few years ago. However i will be proven wrong if he does return to city but i just cant see it happening

    Tom, have to disagree.

i saw him come on at half time in a boring friendly against wolves, sure he was small and frail, he was only a 17 year old amateur. (look at pictures of roy keane at cobh). He still went into central midfield and proceeded to run the rest of the game, pulling all the strings. i think he was more promising then delaney and barry-murphy at the time.

we are crying out for a creative midfielder and he would be perfect in that role, one he's played really well at underage levels and in england. i don't think he'll come back, i think he'd try to have another shot abroad, but he'd walk on the first team at city.

i imagine he'll find another club in englan alright, but with the current climate you'd never know. if he did come back to city i reckon he'd be in the first team fairly quickly, assuming his injuries haven't curtailed his progress too much

    Joe....

If Joe returned to City and barring injuries he would walk back into the team.We have no player close to him in that position. But i am afraid its all wishful thinking really.I would love to see the guy back but it wont be happening i reckon in the next year or two.He bought a new house in the Reading area recently and even though it looks like he will be leaving Reading i do think he would be willing to play 3rd division football(like Damian Delaney at Hull City)rather that returning in the hope he will get a chance with a bigger club again.I also want to say this is not guess work lads as i know his family fairly well and this is there opinion on what hes being telling them....

Assuming hes progressed even a little bit he'd walk into the central midfield role at City.

Be still surprised to see him come back as would guess he'd be keen on giving the uk another go. With current climate over yonder most clubs are trying to rid themsleves of players & not be many signing replacements.

i thought he was at a higher standard than barnet, don't understand why someone at city hasn't kept an eye on him and offered him a professional contract (for more than a single season!!) at a bigger club with the prospect of european football.
he's got a better chance of catching the eye playing soccer in cork than in barnet. strange decision on his part.

    Foot.ie!

I wouldnt call it a kick in the teeth for the eircom league at all.People have to understand that Joe Gamble bought a house in England and over the last couple of years has settled in the area he is living in.He also met a girl over there so it would be in his interest to try as much as possible to make it over there because of this. This is about the guys life and not just football also.If he is going on loan to Barnet there must be still a chance for him at Reading if he proves himself after injury. So as i say think about his situation and ask yourself would you come back to the eircom league if you had a chance of playing with Reading? They are a big club with a beautiful stadium and i am sure he is on good money too.Thats another thing,City probably could not afford his wages or should i say pay that much...

Thumbs down I say dont take him back

I say dont take him back after what he said when he left us. Sod him .... he thought that he was on his way to the premiership with Reading and basically said that City could get stuffed. Looks like he is the one getting stuffed now.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
