We're going to finish 12 pts behind the top 2 - what a disgrace that the Germans and Czechs had it so easy

I see Romania have finished off qualifying with a 6 -1 win over Albania. Very impressive campaign from them to top the group with almost 30 goals scored and 7 conceeded.

They might sneak into pot 1 for world Cup draw?

Woohoo a cause for celebration - progress we have finished third in the group. Actually no wait, what a disasterous campaign. I dont remember us been so off the pace in a campaign other than the time Romania won almost every game in our group, but at least we finished second then. Good riddance to this campaign and heres to a better WC campaign - surely it cant be as bad.

3rd place makes it sound like we actually had a chance of qualifying at some stage

it should be easier to qualify for the euros due to there only being 13 places for the wc but 14 or 15 for the euros.

If we beat Germany by 5 goals we will leapfrog you. Don't 'celebrate' yet.

You can beat them by 50 goals but we still have you on the head to head

    My mistake

We couldn't manage 5 anyway, had to settle for a draw. Shocking result I know.

Dont mean to burst your bubble here Cymro but there are suspisions that Germany and Holland would not try as hard tonight. Both have a chance of being top seeds in the European Championships. The other top seeds are Switzerland, Austria and Greece. Needless to say both teams would want to avoid being in that top pot then. More than a coincidence that Holland lost to Belarus tonight. Im not trying to take away from a very decent result for Wales though

The Czechs had already won the group before a ball was kicked in Frankfurt.

    My bubble thus remains intact.

It was not about winning the group. The seedings for the groups in Euro 2008 were decided by FIFA coefficients. AUS, SUI and GRE were automatic first pot teams (being hosts and holders). Ger and Ned were in line to be the top seed and take the last spot in the first pot. The final placing would be determined by the result of yesterday's games. Being in the first Pot would mean that they would be likely to draw Italy, France, Portugal etc in their group next summer, therefore there was incentive for both Germany and Holland to lose their games last night. The result of the Dutch game looks especially suspicious.

When yiour U21s can beat France 4-2 with about half the senior team still eligible and not available to play for the U21s your bubble deserves to be in tact.

Well done to Stan. Third place in the group. Same as England, Scotland and Northern Ireland

Uefa.com has the list of countries in each pot, with the countries coefficient also. There's not much between pot 1 and pot 4. Poor Netherlands!

    UEFA EURO 2008™ draw seedings
    Pot Team Coefficient
    1 Switzerland 1.800
    1 Austria 1.500
    1 Greece 2.167
    1 Netherlands 2.417

    2 Croatia 2.409
    2 Italy 2.364
    2 Czech Republic 2.333
    2 Sweden 2.273

    3 Romania 2.250
    3 Germany 2.250
    3 Portugal 2.192
    3 Spain 2.182

    4 Poland 2.167
    4 France 2.091
    4 Turkey 1.958
    4 Russia 1.958

Well it's interesting to note that Germany actually ended up in the third pot afterwards. They must have known there was a chance of that prior to kick-off so must have been trying to win to get themselves into the second pot.

I do not believe for one minute the Germans would intentionally draw a match and I doubt anyone who saw the game yesterday would agree with that view.
