He is favourite for the Australia job, explains why he was never taken seriously in the betting market for us.

I just contacted customer service at sportingbetAus and they told me they have closed the book on Aussie manager . Looks like Australia then.

the incredibly bad aussie draw (china? most populous nation on earth? iraq? reigning champions of asia) is probably the worst they could have hoped for, so maybe he'll want us instead. if delaney didn't at least make an approach, he's a fool.

I'm convinced that if Delaney was to offer the Ireland job to Hodgson he would take it over the Aussie offer. All of this rigmarole of 3 man committees. And Robson and Howe advising the 3 man committee who report back to Delaney. Who then reports to the FAI. Madness. We are going to end up once more with a manager that nobody else wants if this continues.

If you look at the videos of Hodgson, I am convinced that if he was interviewed by Giles or Giles had a chat with him that he would be impressed. The biggest reason for this is in what to do in the last ten mins when you are chasing a game. Giles constantly says that you should continue to play your game, whatever game that is. He does not agree that you should just pump long balls up to Robert Huth or whoever it may be if you have not done that for the whole game. This is what Hodgson says also in the video. He has always impressed me when talking about the game and he is highly regarded throughout Europe as a forward thinking coach who gets results. I just pray that the FAI at least talk to him.

Saw on Sky that Hodgson is being touted as Ince's 2nd in command at Birmingham. He's hardly going to go for that?
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

I seen on SSN that Ince was linked with the Derby job, there was no mention of Hodgson though.

    How insulting !!

I'm sure Hodgson has the Aussie job, much warmer than Finland

    Sorry, I meant Derby.

"The 60-year-old, who guided Switzerland to the 1994 World Cup and Euro 96, has been offered a job as technical director by Inter but is holding off while he waits to negotiate a deal with Derby."

Giles better get on the phone unless he's never heard of Hodgson of course.

Professional football is an insular world. So you would have to believe that it would take Delaney/Giles maybe 10 mins and 2 to 3 calls to get Hodgson's number. They contacted Jewell who is touting to get back into club management so why not contact Hodgson.

Giles was asked about him this morning, it sounded like he hadn't a clue about Hodgson.

He was asked, what about Roy Hodgson.
    John replied
'eh ehh ehh I think he has a good cv'. and nothing more.

Usually John is not stuck for words.

Before that he said (in his opinion) that Venables is far from being the FAI accepted candidate.

He is in some loop no doubt.
But he did qualify his "in his opinion" by saying something like 'not that I have any special contact or privvy to FAI sources'
