    Connor Error Costs Ireland B

Pat Devlin’s Republic of Ireland B side were denied a victory over their Scottish counterparts at Airdrie on Tuesday night by a late error from goalkeeper Dan Connor which gifted an equaliser to Derby County forward Steven Howard.

Hate to say I told you so but I told you so!

Should never have been picked in the first place. Not even in the top 3 keepers in the country.Devlin hasnt a clue!

Relax, every keeper makes the odd mistake. We're actually very lucky in the league to have 4/5 top class 'keepers and Connor is certainly one of them. I'd have picked Murphy off Bohs but your "gloating" is pathetic.

How did I guess you would be the first to reply in your usual critical tone.

Its hardly gloating.Just stating that at the time many posters stated that Devlin had made the wrong choice and they were proven correct.

My usual critical tone? You're the one criticising someone (2 people...)

    Oh and

    Fair cop.......................

    I'm still right though

You have to agree that it can only be that Connor was picked because he plays for the league winners.Either Murphy or Ryan were far better candidates for the job

    I disagree.
    Barry Murphy
    Barry Ryan
    Brian Murphy
    Williams
Even Mick Decline is still more reliable and I'd have Vilmunen starting ahead of him.
I don't know too much about Brush.

It was a lazy selection based on them winning the title but nonetheless there's easily 4 Drogs players more worthy.

City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

Oh you're dead right. As I've said I'd have Brian Murphy as the best in the league. Connor is still a good keeper though. I'd only have 2 others ahead of him (Ryan and Barry murphy) Even if he was picked solely as a representative of the league winners

A few keepers have gone downhill this year. Mick Devine being most obvious

Can't remember exactly when he left Shels, is it?
Crowe, Heary, Delaney, Stuey Byrne have really gone downhill this year, don't you think?

    Still better than him.
I think you're having a different argument there.
Only the Bohs keeper should be contending for a place on the B team.

Hate to say it. But Dan Connor is possibly the most overrated goalkeeper in this League.
He didn't exactly set the world on fire at Waterford United. He was good but not that good! Dan Connor is a goalkeeper who is appreciated by people who no squat about goalkeeping, which is the vast majority of football fans !

I'd say the lads are the Irish forum are criticising Devlin for even selecting an eL player. Here we're criticising which eL player he picked.

I think we'd all agree, Drogs fans too, that the 2 Murphys and Barry Ryan are better keepers but at least we've got a player in the team.

Have you ever seen Steve Williams try and back peddle? It's quite funny, if the ball is more than 2 inches above his head he can't save it!
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

They all should be contending for places. It depends on who's fit etc. Murphy's the best

I remember Bohs scoring quite a comical goal against him a number of years ago.It was one of the worst lobs I had ever seen and remember turning away in disgust only to see those around me go mental.Cant believe to this day that he let it go over his head.Brutal stuff!

    Weird post
Mikko Vilmunen is Finnish, hard for him to get a game for Ireland
There is not one Drogs fan who would start Mikko ahead of Dan

Can anybody tell me what Dan actually did????? Have you seen the header that beat him????

Also Graham Gartland was superb, then again Devlin must have got lucky picking him.
Hunky Dorys Park - could be worse, we could be going to Old Trafford every other week

Well Brush is English and I'm pretty sure Vilmumwhatever can't play for the Irish B either

Daniel McDonnell in the Indo doesn't mince his words... things were apparently going reasonably well until...

'Alas, disaster loomed for the Irish with an unfortunate appearance into the fray for Drogheda keeper Dan Connor with nine minutes remaining.

Almost immediately, he was plucking the ball out of the net after misjudging a weak Steven Howard header which crawled over the line off the inside of the post. '
Picking Connor was as predictably gormless as those ludicrous RTE panel selections for team of the year.

I was talking about how eL keepers compare to him, not necessarily Irish eL keepers.
Does anyone think he's the best keeper in the league?

I was at the game and yes it was a weak header - it was a poor goal to concede and it definitely cost us a win. Graham Gartland was superb.

Dan only came on with about 5 minutes to go as Devlin had promsied everyone a run.
