Behind the goal and the Polish half of the Camac were jammed about 2000 Poles. At least**

Nice goal. Were there really only 1,000 Pats fans and neutrals at the game ?

Did the club do any promotion to the Poles who turned up, or did their numbers catch everyone by surprise ?

Sounds like there's a bit of money to be made in having Polish Teams play games in Dublin/Ireland. The FAI should take note for future international friendlies

Was a great marketing move by the club.

The game wasnt great but nice goal. Did think there would be more of us there though. Bit dissapointing.

Some of your support had it in mind to go support Mark Quigley playing for the Under 23's but then he pulled out due to a knock.....

Wasn`t there but heard that the Gardai insisted on Pats paying for a massive police presence including horses, riot squad etc. Presumably based on their footbal intelligence ubit looking at Wistila Fans on You Tube burning scarves or such like. Seems to have ruined the night for a lot of people and cost Pats a 10,000 Euro donation to Garda overtime despite Pats having already paid for Polish speaking stewards.
The programme was tri-lingual ,with one half printed in Polish as well as the usual cupla focail that Pats insert to squeeze a few bob out of Foras na Gaeilge.
An imaginative exercise none the less ,fair play. Its a pity that after whetting the appetite among the Dublin Poles for live football, there isnt another `EL game for three months

Aren't there a few Polish immigrants involved in the el?

I'm certain there's a ref and I thought that one First Div. team had a Polish-named player.

Yes i know. The dates were unfortnate. It wasnt intended like that from the start but when the national fixtures were released they just happened to be on the same day. Still a good marketing excercise though and fair play to the club.

Agreed it was a good marketing exercise, and fair play to the club for putting up two tickets for the friendly, as a competition prize, on The Absolute Game, last Monday night too.

Another point is that anybody who bought a ticket to the Wisla game got a free ticket for one of our Setanta Cup games next season. Remains to be seen how big a take up there is

Good idea again. It is a few months away, which will see most people forgetting or losing their ticket.

There is clearly thirst for live football amongst the Poles in Dublin, so they're there for the taking by a Dublin club. Pats play in red and white, which would help to some degree (Polish national colours). I'd say picking-up a decent Irish-based Polish or 2nd generation Polish player would also be a smart move by any club hoping to court the Polish community.

Immigrant communities in London used to gravitate towards particular clubs years ago before the whole Premiership imbalance kicked in (e.g. Turkish/Cypriots towards Arsenal/Spurs, Jewish to Spurs, Irish to Arsenal and QPR).

Tomasz Superczynski is the ref in question - first non-Irish national on the League list according to the League website
