I think Kirby made his point yesterday with a Man of the Match display!
Oh how badly we need someone like him on the right midfield position
Was talking to the ex-Waterford man after the game in Flancare on Thursday night in the pub. Asked him why he never joined City after he'd been linked with them every summer. Turns out he'd heard rumors, but as he was still under contract, couldn't really ask the board if they were true. When he was finally on a free, he asked about the City story. Turns out City really wanted Mick Divine, and were only talking about throwing Kirby in as a makeweight in the deal, and Waterford thought he was worth than that.
The story makes perfect since to me. We had one of the top keepers in the league, while our midfield was poor, so of course we would want to pick up another keeper ahead of Kirby. Sometimes the board get alot of stick on this site, but I think they deserve a big slap on the back for that particular piece of thinking. Thank God our club is in the hands of such good people.

Just a though but isn't Kirby exactly the sort of player Mountfield would have signed (for free) if he was still around, or was given a chance to get up to speed on the who's who of young talented players in the league.
Possible interviews between Cork Manager & Kirby;
Gunther; Come to Cork will ya boy?
Kirby; No thanks.
Mountfiled (Best Liverpool accent); You should join Cork, we are going places. I want to win the league for the club and make it one of the best professional clubs in the country.
Kirby; (This guy seems to know a thing or two about running a professional team) OK.
I think a plan is just a list of things that don't happen - Mr Parker
