i would like to see jimmy mcgeough back at waterford united.
biggest mistake the club ever made when they sacked him.
jimmy was a crowd puller and had the team playing top football.
both players and fans loved him.
gerry o brien is a big boll1x

he did but some people still need to build a bridge and get over the fact that jimmy mcgeough isnt coming back.wouldnt take him back anyway! Cronin all the way!
I’m not pedantic...I’m merely overly concerned with minute details.
Have to totally agree, Gareth is doing a good job with what he has, ha has my backing if we stay in the premiere division or not.
Kildare County FC: NO!
Had drogheda not taken their foot off the gas after they won the league they would have had the record league points total. So the first part of this is bull.
Fenlon was shown up at derry but there are a lot of other things to take into consideration too. I think a lot up there is down to the players tbh.
Johnny mac has done well and we have progressed under him. No doubt about it. Whether we can progress anymore, im not sure. A lot depends on signings during the close season which a manager also has to be judged on regardless of resources. You can have great rsources and bring in cr*p players. Johnny has had a few "ifs" in this department so it will be interesting to see how he does this year.(If he gets the chance).
Yes and seems so are the club:
MONAGHAN UNITED FC
PRESS RELEASE
Dated: 12th November 2007
MICK COOKE STAYS ON AS MANAGER
Monaghan United FC have officially confirmed that Mick Cooke has been offered and accepted another contract as Manager of the Senior team. Cooke joined Monaghan United in September 2003 and is one of the longest serving managers of the eircom League.
Cooke brought in some fine players over the season and hopes to retain the bulk of his squad for the 2008 season.
“I have decided to stay at United as I feel Monaghan are a club who are going places. They are well organised and the future of football in the area is in good hands. They have had some phenomenal success for a small club. Recently Philip Donnelly from the Under 15’s squad was on trials with Blackburn Rovers and Aaron McCarey, also from the Under 15’s is heading to Aston Villa on trials in the coming weeks and has earned his first cap at Under 16 level. The Women’s team won their first league title this year, in what was their second season in existence. The Under 21’s won the Foyle Cup during the summer. All these positives show that United are moving in the right direction and I am delighted to be part of such a progressive set up.”
“I hope to hold on to 7-8 of the team from this season and build around them. We were plagued by injuries this season but when I had a full squad to choose from in the 3rd quarter of the season we only lost 2 games in 10 played. I am very optimistic about the future for Monaghan and am looking forward to the new season already.”
Ends.
Stephen Henderson has won the league with one of the lowest budgets in the first division,(prob half of Athlone Shels Harps Dundalks) and seems to be a manager that is backed by ALL his players,i think motivation is a big factor in the first division and having a good coach which Ramblers have in Martin Cambridge,i reacon he could be around for a while yet but seems settled in Cobh so long may his policy"s continue.
PS. Best manager in the prem this year has to be scully and to a lesser extent cook for his style of play.
Im sorry but that argument does not hold up. Manchester united lost 1-0 to manchester city, does that mean that he's a bad manager?? I think not.
Yes fenlon brought a few players with him. Im not going to defend him because theres no doubt that he made mistakes but i think if you ask a lot of derry fans they'll be just as dissapointed with their players.
Unfair for me to pass judgement.
Thankfully I was in the Southern Hemisphere for the entire Fenlon era.
