    Safe!

Galway United drew 0 - 0 with Waterford tonight. This result all but confirms United's Premier Divsion status and leaves Waterford with a mountain to climb.

Leaves waterford only needing a draw. Not much of a mountain. I believe we have everest staring at us now.

I think Longford have more chance of beating Derry than Waterford have of getting a point in Tolka next week. Hopefully anyway.

Mike Rafferty(he looks like ned flanders).

mikes commentary with his "wooaaahhhsssss" and "oohs" wasnt the greatest but it was ok:-).sounds like we had a few chances and were never really troubled by waterford.beat UCD next week and we finish 8th:-).

It was an awful match...draw was a fair result..Galway came and parked the bus in front of the goal...They definately played for a draw...We're in trouble now...I think Longford will beat Derry next week so we need a result against Rovers..

just back and funny if we did park the bus in front of the goals how come we missed the 3 best chances in the game. Great Support tonight well over 100 plus united supporters made the trip now i would really love it if we stuffed UCD next week.

Well done to Tony and the lads it was special being there at the end and to be safe with 1 game to go is what we all wanted roll on next season.

Job done, but I won't be going over the top celebrating...although credit to the players it's our recent home form that has kept us up with 3 wins from 5, our away form has dropped a bit (down from the stratosphere) but 3 results from 5 on the road this time of year is nothing to be ashamed of.

Maybe the training camp in Spain and the full time set up has finally kicked in

Roll on next Friday, I want to see a full strength team take the pitch against UCD...if he wants to blood some of the U21's leave that for the second half. I don't want the team to be accused of fielding an understrength team and influencing the relegation battle between UCD, Bray and Waterford. We've had enough scandals this season with Petrolgate and the recent dodgy lights/match fixing scandal to deal with....

Roll on sexy football next season....

Should have bet waterford by a few goals last night.
Had we played to win the game we probably would have.

Hope they get relegated now-especially after the behaviour of Croinin and his "players" after the match.Amateurs.

Great support aswell.150 i'd have said.

yea which one of their players was it that was giving us that lovely gesture - ah good times with a bit of banter with the opposition fans

on the match i had a good few beers - but it seemed we had the best chances in the game - dominated the first half and the second half was 50/50 bar the enigma obriens clinical cross bar challenge effort

Didnt see the Waterford Team actions. But it would have been out of character if they didnt give us some guff on or off the pitch. On a whole wouldnt agree with sayin we parked the bus, played for the draw certainly we did but we werent afraid to attack at every oppurtunity. I was disappointed with this as I redckon we would have easily picked up the three points with a 4-4-2 formation, but a point is what we needed and is exactly what we got :-)

Waterford were there for the taking lets face it they were poor , no in fact very poor . The left winger looked handy but the long ball hoof from the back is all they had to offer . I agree with the 4-4-2 idea as midfield was over looked so we didn't need 5 across it .
And as for us parking a bus at the back , get real will you as the bus is still in Terryland after we scored againist Derry . NOW THAT'S BUS PARKING .........

I think the idea was that we were battered off the pitch in the first 2 meetings and if we played 5 in midfield we would have control there and so it proved.

We were much the better team for the match and should have won by a couple of goals. Hard to see how they beat us at all this season.

Don't agree with this whole 4-4-2 thing. Our best period of play in Waterford was in the first half. The 4-5-1 when we were defending became a 4-3-3 when attacking. A 4-4-2 does not guarantee attacking football unless the players are given license to attack.
4-4-2 will work on certain days, 4-4-1-1 on another, 4-5-1, 4-3-3 etc but its the attitude of the players and the instructions given. Demanding a certain formation from the crowd is a bit daft in my opinion

    Agree.

Thought the travelling support was fantastic, but the odd plaintive cry of 4-4-2 made no sense to me.

Yes sumac but dont forget all the serious football experts that were up there

Football console games have a lot to answer for and of course all your players are model pros.

    4-5-1.

i remember hearing derek.o.brien telling a contributer on this thread about the game vrs bohs earlier in the season when we drew 1-1 in dalyer.he said we surprised bohs by playing 4-5-1 but switched to 4-3-3 when we had the ball(just as someone else said here),he said he liked using that system.its becoming a more popular system to use in this league as teams did it against us in terryland.it does all depend on the players though.
