be sure to post the result here eanna. Up city!
goalside - sox it to ya
My sources in Limerick inform me that City have won the game following a penalty shootout. This is despite the fact that City had to play the whole of extra time with 9 men!
Fair play to the lads.
Champions!
city indeed won on penalties. city were one-nil up at half time after having a goal disallowed. just after half time city were reduced to 10 men after a bit of handbags, and then corbally got an equaliser from a penalty rebound- (penalty that never was according to neutral spectators!!!) just before full time city were reduced to 9 men when denis behan was very harshly sent off for yellows. city held out thruogh extre time and nearly snatched a late winner through jamie nolan who beat the keeper one on one but his shot crept wide. penalty shoot out saw city win 4-2 (i think) to claim a deserved victory
That's me by the way...Originally posted by Éanna
(penalty that never was according to neutral spectators!!!)City deserved it though, if only for the scumbag element of Corbally fans!!! It would have been a serious miscarriage of justice had Corbally sneaked it (they also had a goal disallowed a few minutes from the end of extra time) though. City were the better team though and truth be told I was pleased to see them win in the end (I'm big into fairness me)
Though the first Cork lad had to go...

City : Peter Cuthbert, Alan O'Flynn, Ray Lally, Declan O'Connell, Robert Milner, Michael Buckley, Eoghan Geaney, David O'Sullivan, Denis Behan, Jamie Nolan, Darren Swaine.
Denis Behan put City ahead after just ten minutes. Before this he had already had a goal disallowed and a shot saved while Jamie Nolan also had a shot saved.
Alan O'Flynn was given a straight red a couple of minutes into the second half and Denis Behan got his second yellow of the night three minutes into extra time.
Mickey Buckley, Eoghan Geaney, Ray Lally and Darren Swaine all scored penalties for City. Peter Cuthbert saved Corballys first chance while their fourth hit the post.
City deserved to win this game.even when they were down to nine men they didnt give up and never really looked like they were to concede a goal!
by the way they were knocked out of the FAI Youths Cup when tolka rovers beat them 3-0 last sunday.
city were the better team in the first half and missed plenty of chances to go ahead.the second half was a different story altogether and i dunno what happened at half time but the ref gave every decision against city in the 2nd half and to be honest he was a bit harsh at times
