One thing for Souness, he seems to genuinely want the job. Didn't Houllier drop some gem about being to good for it?

I thought he pulled out on principle? He was upset at the fact that the guy who was doing the interviewing for the Bolton post was in fact Gary Megson's agent and best mate? Megson had to then come out and say this fella was just his mate and he had never previously hired him, only asked him for advice and to sit in on meetings. Beggars can't be choosers. If offered it he'll snap Whelan's hand off!

Look at it from an FAI perspective...do they need to take another risk? Give them some credit, if they do interview Souness it will be purely a case of going through the motions. He has as much a chance of getting a job as a presenter on Strictly Come Dancing.
Souness is one of the better candidates. I would far prefer him to Aldridge or O'Leary

The Rangers boo boys would just have to deal with it. If he is interviewed and is the best man for the job why should he not get it?

Oh it might just be worth appointing Souness for all the Celtic-Irish fans who disgrace all Irish fans with the booing of any player whoever played for Rangers.
Would they boo souness everytime he appeared on the field?

But been stuck stuck with another rubbish manager for 2 years would not be worth such a simple pleasure.

RoyHodgson is the best man for the job.

They should have asked him about it on Sky tonight as both him and Souness were on the show.

What a mountain out of a molehill this is. I can't believe people still talk about it.

    Facts:
    * The majority of the crowd booed the Rangers players. Many of them not knowing the reasons.
    * It was all over the media. Politicians even asked the fans to stop.
    * We play Australia and the Rangers players aren't booed.

    That was it.

And in fairness they weren't playing for us, they were the opposition. I remember thinking at the time your meant to boo them for nothing.

Gave me a good laugh a few years later when it led to the 'Ireland B' fans and media putting over the line that they weren't boing John Hartson because he played for Celtic, it was for some other variety of other unrelated reasons.

But its not about the players anymore. A Rangers fan has as much right to enjoy an Ireland game as anyone else

Sammy Lee it is then. Or maybe Gavin Dykes.

And Souness, charismatic reinvention as a pundit aside wouldn't pull up any trees as the boss and as a wise man has pointed out here already 2 more years of abject trite (at a minimum) is just too high a price to pay for the pleasure of upsetting the more moronic elements of our support.

The problem, and the reason that has beens and never wases like Souness are the only ones fluttering their eyelashes at the position, is that's it's a pretty crap job and whatever about the rhetoric spouted from certain angles about the supposed avalanche of talent coming through the ranks, it's waaaaaaay too high-risk for anybody with any clout to consider chancing their arm with.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

    Souness

Now that Scotland are managerless, will Souness count himself out of the running for the Irish job, I presume he would want the Scottish job?

There's already a thread on Souness

Lawrenson stated that Souness is not interested and that he wants to buy and run a club himself.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Apparently he wants to buy and run his own club so is out of the reckoning.

Wouldn't you hate to be a Scots fan right now? Crest of a wave and suddenly you lose your manager and have Billy Davies and Graeme Sourness after the job
