I don't think he was ever an employee of RTE to have left them. They use him for the odd gig but Ronnie (I have nothing original to say) Whelan seems to have got the midfield role these days between Father Time and Mr. Controversial.

I thought Billo's production company runs the shows and he decides who is on and who isnt. Nothing to do with RTE.

I don't think this is the case. News and live sport are among the very few television programmes that RTE continue to produce in-house. This is why people like Vile Mutant continue to have senior positions in the RTE sports department (as brilliantly parodied by Apres Match during Euro 2008).
