    Question City All Star 11

Gerry was asking about an all star eleven. Here's my suggestion. I've only been a city fan since 1988 or so, no mention of really over the hill ancinet guys ie Trevor Brooking! but here goes.

Biscuits, P Long, D Daly, B Carey, S Napier, D Barry, Patsy, Jerry McCabe, Mike Mellon, P Morley, J Caulfield.

subs: Alex Ludzig, Cormac Cotter, Johnny Glynn.

    Biscuits, never crumbled!
Back 4 always did excellent work, Deccie still is.
Patsy & McCabe, best 2 ball players and playmakers I've yet seen.
Morely & Caulfield, remember when we won the league, Morleys dummy against Shels, sheer class!

Alex Ludzig, class of his own.
Cormac Cotter, got loads of stick but always gave 100% and improved as he got older!
Johnny Glynn, always good for a laugh, excellent in the mud and rain in Bishopstown
One may smile and smile and be a villan!

How could you leave him out?...THE BULL McCabe

I'd go with same team as above cept Johnny C would be on the bench and the Bull would be up front. Maybe Micky Devine in goal, I know he's only new but he's made some class saves....how about an all time city bad team? It'd have to include midfield mystreos Liam O'Brien and Steve Gaughan
    Oh no not them again

Surely the all time worst 11 would have to include Paul Hague, I mean came from Non League, played in Champions League and disappeared back to non league faster than a speeding bullet!

    A Few Changes

I almost agree about the best City 11 except...

    M Devine, P Long, D Daly, B Carey, S Napier, D Barry, Patsy, J McCabe, M Mellon, P Morley, J Caulfield.

    subs: A Ludzig, C Cotter, J Glynn.

Having said that I do think the current squad will produce some more great memories and the great city 11 + 3 subs could change by the end of the season.

Thank you Citymark for reminding me of Ludzig

Why pick Cormac Cotter? Why not. He scored on his debut for City, got loads of abuse for years from The Shed, but he stuck with it. During the last 2 years playing with us he was immense, even The Shed cheered his every touch. Gave it his all he did. Is he still coaching reserves or U18's?

    DREAM TEAM

I came on the scene in '91 so players like Brian Carey are omitted

    1. Biscuits (GK)
    2. Deccie (RB)
    3. Garreth Cronin (LB)
    4. Derek Coughlan (CB)
    5. Paul Bannon (CB)
    6. Billy Woods (RW)
    7. Dave Barry (CM)
    8. Patsy (CM)
    9. Bull McCabe (LM)
    10. Skippy (S)
    11. Johnny C (S)

Subs: Micky Devine, Fergus O'Donoghue, Ollie Cahill and Johnny Glynn

I,m not sure if Billy Woods ever played on the right but there was nobody else.
    This team would be invincible

    Talking Revised dream team

If Billy Woods doesn't quailfy as a right winger, I'd have to select Noelle Feeney in that position instead. I've seen her make some blistering runs down the touchline with her kettle just before half time.
To this day I've always wondered why she never actually played for City.

Alek Ludzik was well past his prime when he joined City. His absolute peak, IMO, was 1974 when Celtic won the league. Now THAT was goalkeeping....

    Guess you'll all have sussed I'm 64....

Stephen is a City rock. I'm amazed you'd stick him in a worst XI. Nobody, repeat, nobody has been braver in a City shirt - not even DD. His form may have dipped in the period he was recovering from illness, but that aside he's been the man for the trenches...
