Kick a man while hes down. You all have very short memories. The lad has never recovered from the Knee injury he got prior to the 2002 world cup. Disappointing to see some of the abuse hes getting on this thread.

I maintain he could have been a good right midfield option for us and an intelligent manager may have tried that option. A right flank of Finnan AND Carr would have been solid and had a good attacking edge to it. It was tried the other way around but Finnan is the better defender so I'd have given Carr the attacking license he thrived on but left the main defensive responsibility to the better defender.

    Anyway, yesterday's man.

It's been speculated a few times that he may retire but it apperas everyone of this squad will pay on which is good. I think the ionly reason people guessed Finnan may retire is because he fits the profile - 30ish, busy schedule at a top club...

I'd say Finnan will wait and see who the new manager is. If it's a world class team of say Liam Daish and Rodney Marsh (with the fans picking the side), he might say adieu but if it's a decent well respected manager, he might hang on.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
