Jose Mourinho must be fuming at home![]()
I never thought as a Man Utd fan i'd say this but Liverpool were robbed.
-For Drogba's goals the person who crossed the ball was offside.
-Liverpool were denied a blatant penalty on Hyypia.
-Essien on Babel. Blatant.
How Jermaine Pennant got on and Peter Crouch didn't i'll never know???(Newcastle Players next year IMO)
Rafa is probably gone, having delivered no trophy's for the Yanks.
Although I can't help but feel Roman's rubles have bought Chelsea a place in the final in Roman's home country. Definetley they got some dodgy decisions go their way during this seasons competition especially tonight.
But in saying that the officials got it spot on for Essien's goal.

LESS OF THE BULL NOW!
Dunno about Hyypia, but Essien's lunge on Babel at 2-1 was a cast iron and steel penalty. Even moreso than Devine on Baker at Tolka this season
The Model Club
Tell all the Bohs you know
that we've gone and won two-in-a-row
and it's not gonna be three
and it's not gonna be four
it's more likely to be 5-1.
Alot of decisions went against Liverpool tonight, but as a Liverpool fan I'd have to admit that we got quite a bit of luck in getting to this stage and unfortunatley it tends to even itself out.

Disagree. There was no daylight between the two. I'd say just about level and in such circumstances the attacker gets the advantage.
Hyypia's reaction wasn't that of a man who had been fouled and didn't get the penalty. He smiled and got up. The ref was definitely thinking about giving it until Hyypia put in the exaggerated dive. No sympathy for divers. If he hadn't dived he might have got it.
To me Essien got the ball - see the angle it went off at. I know Mr. Monotone Brady said it was a peno but I saw it differently.
And GEORGE HAMILTON: once again he had the game over when Chelsea went 2 up. "Game, set and match". He NEVER learns that teams might come back. If the Hyypia "penalty" above had been given it would have been a very close run thing. He counts chickens before he even sees them!! Incredible. Brought back the memory of Sofia (Bulgaria vs Scotland). "Ireland are going to Euro 88..oh, it's off the post....crack open the champagne bottles, oh it's cleared off the line etc etc".
He also got the clock wrong and had the game over when there were 2 minutes left.

Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
That's not as bad as our man "Razer". It's the 76 minute, Liverpool have just finished their spell of dominance in which Torres had made it 1-1, out comes this little gem-"Liverpool are playing for penalties here". Now I know you might think whats wrong with that but to me it sums up Liverpool under Benitez and of course that Houghton is a crap commentator.....

"Joe Jordan is off to watch Young Boys tomorrow" Ian Darke
I think thats a fair enough comment, it reminded me of the champions league final in a way, once liverpool got level they ceased most of their attacking and chelsea had all the chances for the rest of the game. I think the best team won in the end and Lampard has to be admired for the performance he put in. However, I still think Chelseas best midfielder is wasted at right back.
Interesting final, well be very close to call. Hopefully no dodgy decisions, somehow think Abrahomvich wont be too busy on 'business' that night.
Hamilton kept insisting that if Liverpool equalized in extra time they'd win on away goals. Did no one tell him Away goals don't count in ET

My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method, is love. I love you Sheriff Truman.
From UEFA.com
Knockout rounds
A draw determines who each of the 16 clubs will play in the first knockout stage, with ties decided over two matches on a home and away basis. The club that scores the greater aggregate of goals advances, or in the event of both teams scoring the same number of goals, the team which scores more away goals. If the away-goals rule proves inconclusive, extra time of two periods of 15 minutes is played after the second match. If during extra time both teams score the same number of goals, away goals count double (ie the visiting team advances). If no goals are scored during extra time, the winner is decided by penalty kicks. The two teams that advance from the knock-out round contest the final, held as a single match in May.

The Babel quote was more along the lines of "George: he's brought on Babel and left crouch on the bench...now you have to ask yourself who's more likely to score Babel or crouch....hopeful looking shot from Babel ..oh whats Cech done there ....."
Ya agreed but then you could argue that the home team has an advantage with a further 30 mins at home so it probably balances itself out. It would interesting to see when knock out games have gone to extra time, how many times the away team has won. Struggling to think of any at the moment.
