tough one today against the waterford men

The waterford game could be a tough one for city. it will be interesting to see how city react after the defeat by a poor rovers team. despite a illegal second goal city should not have allowed rovers to dicate things so easily

hopefully doyle and woods can get a bit more involved than they have been recently and take some pressure of flynn and o'callaghan. the later two won't be scoring goals all the time and a bit more nitty gritty from doyle and deadwoods is needed.

it is obvious our lack of creativity in midfield will tell against us in future games and while greg is playing admirable stuff he isn't the long term solution (he should be at right full). o'grady is steadily improving - maybe today could be his big game. in defence murray and horgan are excellant and i am sure devine will continue to turn in more conssitent performances. gaz i worry about and benett while a hard worker is playing out of postion

so far so good but I am sure all right minded fans can see we are still off the finished product.

waterford are a good team and can cause trouble to any one on their day. i am sure dolan will have warned city about underestimating them. all said i will put my head on the block and put city down to win 3-0 (o'flynn, o'callaghan and doyle)

IMO theres nothing wrong with no creative central midfielders as long as the wide players are capable attackers. On the other hand Greg & Conor won't contribute many goals so the wingers need to start scoring soon.

Seems to be some good competition now for the full back positions with the addition of Hedderman (anyone know if he fulltime?) so i'm surte that'll sort itself out eventually.

I'm surprised Dan Murray hasn't added a goal yet this season.

Away performances have been been a huge imnprovement this season so if city can play like the Bohs game at home theybeat most teams there.

I think Bennet is growing into the centre half position very well. He was immense last week in Inchicore. His distribution is excellent, and his reading of the game is fantastic. And he is only, what, 22?

I think that the weak link is Gaz. he has been poor all season and he hoofs far too often. Id put Carey back to RB with Hoggy returning to LB.

i agree, between this year and last yr hoggie was much better playing left full, more reliable and and better going forward than gaz,

i think waterford will be up for this match a lot more as its there promotion season, they seem to be alot more determined this season than previous seasons i have seen them play

i hope im wrong and city roll them over for another 5-0, remeber dobbs goal into the top corner!!!!

    Thumbs up

Ollie was unreal that season & particularily the 5-0 game at home. Seem to remember looked like 2 players man marking Ollie but he still skinning them & probably got 1 of them sent off.

I tend to try & forget that dobbs ever graced a city shirt

I'd agree that Gaz has lost his edge. With Carey in for him, Hoggie back on the right, Dan and Hedderman in the centre, maybe Benno could move into the centre.
By all accounts I've heard, Conor was brutal on Sunday.
I still think Warren should get a run though.
And while I'm at it, , how about bringing George back to the midfield and pushing Doyler up with John !!

He got one preseason alright and it was a good one (if i remember right) Hopefully he'll have a couple of shots soon. He is a lofty lad and should be good with his head.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

i was only thinking about that game yesterday. ollie played like george best and i thought dobbs was the messiah. (the goal was that good).

alas that season we only manged to draw 0-0 in the other game against them that season.

i don't take the point about not having a creative midfielder. it is essential in the modern game though deadwoods and doyle have to score goals though.

anyway enough chewing of the fat until later
