What's the story with the Thursday night kickoff? I'll be in Dublin so it's handy to go see it, but why Thurs? Was this rearranged?

No. Dundalk, in all their wisdom decided upon Thursday night home games at the start of the season. Real good sense for away fans. Not!!

They have played on Thursdays forever, its tradition, so they wont change it.

While I would never presume to speak for you that sentence should surely read as follows:

They have played on Thursdays forever as, in this largely part-time league, it increases the chances of opposition players not being able to travel as well as hampering away support. Therefore they won't change it.

They trot out the old excuse about needing the income from their facilities at the weekend but even in the event of a private party using them there's nothing to stop Dundalk from having a KO time of 6.30 on Saturday (or even Sunday). Or 3.30 on either of those days.

I've long been convinced that Dundalk play on Thursdays to be awkward. In an ideal world everybody else would switch their two Dundalk home games to Thursday and they wouldn't be long in coming around.

PS) Apologies for the rant but this has long been a bugbear of mine...
The ball is round and has many surprises.

    Full time score :
    Dundalk 0 - 2 Limerick 37

This is Dundalks first home defeat since June 2006, before tonight they had not conceded a goal at home in almost 600 minutes of play

Almost makes amends for Kilkenny away

It was never a penalty but we were terrible and wouldn't score if we were there until Christmas! Well done..

think you mean harps by that little wink,
Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.

They switched to Thursdays years ago, when unemployment was high, cos
it was dole day and the fans had a few bob (or so legend has it)

They continue with it as they make more in the bar on weekends for functions
etc than if there was a game on.

Dundalk have always played their home games on Thursday!! Great win by the way. I was suprised to hear the result. I thought Aertel messed up again. I had classed this game as a definate loss after last friday. Its amazing how one week we can lose to Killkenny (at home) and then the following thursday beat Dundalk (away ). Was there any Limerick fans up there?

almost as amazing as losing to Kilkenny (away) and beating Dundalk 4-1 at home. Then of course we lost 4-0 to Shels so hope the sequence stops.

7 Limerick fans, 2 Monaghan fans and approx 600 home fans.
