Comic book nerds ahoy?

Anybody else seen 'X-2' and care to support or undermine my opinion that it was actually very good and much better than the first?

And while I'm here anybody wanna feed back on Daredevil (formulaic and a bit dull but watchable) or on Spiderman (sehr gut!)?

Anybody into Marvel generally or am I the the only one?

thinks: I wonder who'll be the first to say, yes slk you are the only one! I'd guess Conor or James...

Anyway, just something I thought I'd throw out there to see if anybody else will own up to an interest!

i must say that i do not enjoy marvel
i read Vertigo.

i think vertigo's titles are a lot more intresting and anti-hero.
have you ever read the Sandman? or Preacher? or Hellblazer?
theese are very very good titles.

I've read a little Preacher but that's it. It was quite good as it happens but the big kid in me still finds Marvel more gripping. At the moment I'm reading something called 'Rising Stars' or something like that. It's by the guy who did Babylon 5 which is a damning indictment I know but this stuff is actually damn good!

x-2 Class of all Marvel Enterprise franchises it's the one they kept their �money, sell it to the kids, who cares about how bad it is' grubby little hands off.

I'm from the rouge trooper era but x-men has been around for years and always has me picking one up anywhere I see one just for a sconce.

The comic was defo a fav of mine not as much now as it's hard to get Marvel here, never mind that having Storm talking Luxembourgish/German doesn't have the same appeal.

The Cartoon was what it was a big ad for the video game.

The film, it's class too, it is aimed at adults and not kids they use violence but very little gore, it's not a shoot 'em up film.

I do like that the mutant skills are fairly close to the comic.

This should be some year for, Two towers, Matrix2 x-men 2.

It will be interesting to see how they go with the x-men franchise.

I started off in the early seventies with a comic called Scorcher. It had some great stories in it - "Billy's Boots" [the story of a kid who was crap at football but finds a pair of boots that once belonged to an old footballing hero....], "Bobby of the Blues" and I can't remember any more.
Later on, Scorcher amalgamated with Score to become,duh, "Scorcher and Score", which retained the best stories in each. I remember one of the stories was about a mad Scottish footballer called Hamish.......

I have a feeling that later on, Scorcher and Score got taken over by Roy of the Rovers. Unfortunately, they didn't go with Roy of the Rovers ansd Scorcher and Score as the working title.

Then there was that awful helicoptor accident that finished Roy's career and we were left with his petulant git of a son Rocky to carry the torch with double-page spreads in MOTD Magazine and cheesy McDonalds sponsorship deals...

I remember it well (well, kinda well ... well, just about!)

Hot shot Hamish was a massive Scottish fella who took
pile driver of shots and as far as I can remember used to
play wearing a kilt!

Speaking of football and comics - who can tell me which English comic was banned and shut down in the 70s due to an incident where a player's girlfriend bottled an opposing player from the crowd?

Yes Deise here is a fully fledged nerd... buys truckloads of stuff (apparently Stan Lee is naming his new plane after our Waterford born and bred, Limerick supporting friend here

) which he then passes onto me. Go on DD, tell them how much you spend every week (on average)!!!

Even the DD nickname he uses is a silent homage to Daredevil!

Personally I stick to a coupla Spiderman comics, an X-Men comic and a new Daredevil/Incredible Hulk one. My fellow Limerick fan buys everything. I mean everything!!!!

Okay-Top5 favourite comics ever.

I'll start

1. The Ultimates - Vol 1 (a re-make of the Avengers, who I used to hate).
2. Kingdom Come (DC)
3. Marvels (Marvel)
4. Ultimate x-Men - Vol 1 - The Tomorrow People
5. Akira Vol 1 to 6 (it is one big story over about 2500 pages)

Anyone else?
