I doubt they'd have hired him if he's not at least fairly capable as a coach, but there may be a lot of other factors at play. He may know Solskjaer from his first stint there, the "Man United DNA" shtick may have helped, and timing of a reasonably high level career coming to an end so U23 overage player looks attractive to both sides may be rare enough. It's a good opportunity for him anyway, and hopefully he grasps it with both hands (unlike Thierry Henry, who only needed one hand to beat him).
