Stephen Hunt was on soccer am this morning talking about his Irish teammates, you can see the full segment here: http://www.skysports.com/socceram/me...305175,00.html
According to him, McShane is the best trainer, which would go someway towards explaining why he's constantly selected in squads. Trapattoni sees what he is capable of on the training pitch, and hopes think he can reproduce it in a game.
Incidentally, this is why I think Gibson is selected in squads too, he's supposed to be excellent in training, which shows what he is capable of

That's all well and good but he's a sub for Hull. What sort of form is he showing that he deserves to be picked for the squad in the first place.

Well lets sum up the performance of the Irish players....
Meyler gave away a penalty, as did Brady, but on the plus side McShane scored!! (with his hand apparently), who does he think he is?
    Thierry Henry??

Was talking to a lad who used to play with him at St. Joeseph's who was shocked when McShane ended up being signed by United.

A friend of a friend played for Joe's (as did I about 20 years ago!) alongside McShane and he told my pal that McShane was fairly average but spent one off-season being trained in a ridiculously tough manner by his dad and that helped improve his game enough to eventually get him signed. Or something to that effect anyway.

He is so good in training that he knobbled one of the 1st team recently - I think it was Robbie before the German game.

The problem with having him around is that he is a risk to our players in training and a risk to our goal in games!

He scored a controversial goal at the weekend. I think I read he scored with his hand. He must have learnt from Thierry Henry. He was close enough.

If he had been close enough Henry wouldn't have gotten to handball it.

it came off my chest and shoulder after it hit my hand.

Nothing dishonest in what he said, he just didn't say everything. There is a difference, still an honest lad.

He said it wasn't hand ball, therefore 'it did not hit my hand'.
Unless there is evidence to suggest otherwise, he deserves to get the benefit of any doubt in the matter.

You can look up 'evidence' in the dictionary, assuming you do know what a dictionary is?

McShane scored for Hull today in their 2-2 draw against Cardiff City to help them gain promotion.

It came from a Brady corner delivered to land about 5m out.
McShane forced his way to get in front of a Cardiff defender who ended up hanging onto his shirt, still McShane managed to get a clean strike on the ball.
Bruce totally lost his head after the game and chased after the ref, who was making a quick exit down the tunnel.
The ref had done nothing wrong, he awarded 2 stonewall penalties in ET, one to each side. Hull just missed theirs.
