Well at least they go matches every week as a matter of course not like a lot of posters who go across the sea a few times a season (and yes i include myself in thtat group). Most of the lads i go to Ireland matches are mad to join in chants/songs etc if they are started they will. EL fans are the way to start it imo

The point I made is that a lot of EL tickets end up in hands of non EL people, I know of many EL fans that wouldnt cross the road to watch Ireland play.

What is needed is to dedicate the North and South stands as "Kops" and market them as such so when the block bookings are reallocated people can choose if they want to be in a singing section or not, the visitors should be housed in a corner! and for most games we have very few visiting fans, id only expect the Italians to take up their full allocation.

Why exactly would they be requesting Ireland tickets from their club's Supporters Club if they aren't going to use them?

i would doubt there will ever be singing sections due to the fact that these areas end up with most people standing for the duration of the match and that is against fire regs. maybe i'm wrong, but thats what i heard. i wrote to the fai before about a singing section when they planted that stupid band in the canal end at cp to give them a real alternative to creating an atmosphere but without a response.

i have always thought that a few strategically placed bodhran beaters around the stadium would help getting the atmosphere going. that band they currently have end up just doing drum rolls etc more befitting a circus!

I doubt that has anything to do with fire regs. After all the Hill is a terrace for the GAA C'ship season and the rugby

Sounds good in theory and it should happen and indeed was suposed to happen at Croke Park but have my doubts, certain people may not want like minded fans fans all in one area as it may give rise to unflattering songs about certain individuals/organisations. They dont appear to notice/care that the atsmosphere is contrived at best (crap PA music the Proclaimers ? jesus wept, music immediately after a goal is scored God help us ?, or the band at lower Davin) and non existant at worse due to like minded individuals spread all over the place

A lot of people (eL fans and non eL fans) would only have an interest in going to Ireland games if its against bigger teams, but to guarentee these tickets they'd have to take the ones for the likes of Canada, China etc. These in turn can get passed on to other people.

When I looked after our supporters tickets I had numerous arguements with people demanding tickets for the big games cos they go to all the Town matches, but then telling me to stick the tickets where the sun dont shine when I told them they'd have to take tickets for all games! I remember 1 fella in particular, always on to me to try and get him tickets (I had my own block booking before the eL allocation came about), he said he'd go to any match. Allocations came through so I rang him straight away ... "Call me back when the important qualifiers are on" was the response I got!

Despite being big into football and travelling around the country every second week ... some people just cant be bothered getting off work early and heading up to Dublin on a Wednesday night for friendlies against uninteresting opposition.

i wouldnt mind going to the ****ty friendlies but i think two things have to be seriously looked at
1) price of tickets for less attractive games, at the moment whilst using croker we know they have to give a good bit of the income to the gaa but seriously theres no way it should be 40/50 euro for friendlies
2) the lack of any real atmosphere at games is a joke, really have to get a good sing song going when we are back in lansdowne

That's exactly the point in my view. The FAI don't care about atmosphere so long as the ground is full. A singing section in the last campaign woulda been a focal point for the "Stan Out" campaign, not something the FAI are going to want to encourage.

No more terraces no more atmosphere lads its as simple as that. Once you're sitting down with a bit of room to strech those legs,happily munching on one of those delightful Croke Park hot dogs and have recently been able to empty that bladder(there were limited opportuniteis to do that on the main terraces in the old Lansdowne) you are far less likely to stand up and make a bit of noise. People are way too cynical in this country to respond to choreographed singing sections. This isn't an american 'take me out to the ball game' baseball crowd, sure they've put all those kids in the corner of the cusack and canal and they go bananas and everyone hates it! We might be a little closer to the play at the new Lansdowne Rd(or whatever they call it) but I really doubt the atmosphere will improve that much.
