Talk of him going to play at a higher level in England is simply ridiculous in my opinion. Sean Kelly would be my MOTM, supplied some good crosses and defended very well considering he's not often in the squad.

Waterford are being run this year on the smell of an oily rag. Galway United on megabucks. I think the Blues are better value for money IMO.

Professionalism has very little to do with the size of the pay packet and a whole lot more to do with the mindset. If the Bebo rumours are true than the GUFC first team squad are professional in name only.....

GUFC and Sligo Rovers have the smallest budgets of the seven full-time clubs.
    Hardly megabucks !

a fair portion of the GUFC playing staff are on less money than a lot of the part-timers in the league!!

wages in the region of €400 - €500 per week are not uncommon.

Definitely agree that Waterford have given more value for money since they won more matches , including beating us twice.

Where you're coming from with the Galway United on megabucks I just don't know. Megabucks relative to who else? Drogs? UCD? Waterford? Have you analysed the cash flow situation of the 12 Prem clubs? If we come in on or near our start of season budget, I believe the Board will have honoured its committments. Ministers for Finance can be out by millions or even billions in their budgetary projections and still get amongst the highest votes in the country. For a relatively small business (and that is what we are) to end its financial year without significant losses is a great achievment IMO.

Your point about value for money is a fair one, but unlike previous Boards at our own club, and unlike many other so-called professional clubs in this country, we have got a lot of things right off the pitch.

Despite all the vitriol sent our way, we have been run professionally off the field. The league table tells the on-the-field story. Obviously the move to full time was a risk that has not paid off, but 10th. place will do me - even if it looks less and less achievable as the weeks go by. Enjoy the Bebo rumour factory - beats swotting for a Masters or a PhD I'd say

Just because the club went full-time and is well run doesn't mean we are on megabucks. Certainly compared to the other full-time clubs we aren't. And of course we were coming from a base of having a 1st division squad of players.

This season is all about survival (although I do feel we should have finished a couple of places higher in the table but our home form has let us down). There will have to be a serious upgrade in the squad over the Summer for us to avoid another battle next year if we stay up.

    You're 100% right Jebus.

We weren't expecting an easy ride but we weren't expecting to be languishing 3 points from a playoff spot with 4 games to go.

Did you do a survey or did you just make that up?!

There were nearly 3000 at the Longford game, so by your post you reckon that about 2000 of them want him out. I'd say the figure is closer to 20.

Most United fans wil have been disappointed with the season though.

To be honest JC, I think it is a lot more than 20. Maybe not quiet a majority, but judging by the comments I overheard at half-time against Longford, including from former players, they ain't exactly thrilled with the way things are going.

I'd say it's more than 20 too! All I said was that 20 was nearer the figure!

Other than Pat Dolan there's no one out there at the moment who I'm certain would do a better job.

But of that 3000 how many are kids and Johnny-come-seldoms??

Surely not everyone is as qualified to have an opinion.

If the situation was going on in Limerick I'd be disgusted.

You're home record is nothing short of shocking

You should be lightyears ahead of Waterford, Longford, Bray and in fairness should be doing quite a bit better than Shamrock Rovers

Some of the stuff I've heard coming out of the club is bizarre

    Johnny Lester centre-half??
    Wes Charles left full??
    Mysteriously injured Ghanain lads??

All seems to point to a manager who doesn't have a clue.

IMHO anyone of the hardcore (ConorH, Terry, etc, etc...) couldn't possibly be happy with the situation unless they have an agenda

Obviously, If any of the GUFC supporters said that they were happy they would be lying. This season has been confusing, fustrating etc.. I will sit out the rest of the season LTID before I give judgement on the manager.

You're pretty much hitting the nail on the head there.Except U-12's aren't included in the 3000 figure.

Cousins set low targets at the start of the season and hasn't even matched them.
Knocked out of both cups earky on and way to close to comfort to the playoff spot.
TC is a master spoofer though.Week in week out he tells people what they want to hear.
Considering GUFC is leading the way off the field and getting the 3rdd best attendances in the league it's very disheartening to see an inept manager and a few wasters leading the cause on the pitch.
5 wins all season speaks for itself.

Sod that Terry, crucify him on top of the new stand, hence providing the playing staff with ample motivation for the final four games.

agree with that post, except the bit about Rovers. in fairness they finished 2 places ahead of us last season, but i suppose if you mean by them being Part-timers and us full timers.

TBH I've said all season that I wasn't sure about us going full time and i'm sure of it now. We have only been able to attract young lads and the odd journeyman with the kind of finances we have available for wages. Bar Reggie and John Fitz the rest of the signings have been average at best, with some totally shocking Brinias (obviously) immediately springs to mind.

And whatever about 5 wins all season, try 2 home wins at home and playing sh1te football every week - on the managers instruction!

I really am surprised the crowds have remained as high as they have but I think we will struggle to maintain the high crowds if things stay as they are next year. Although if they do we WILL be knee deep in a relegation battle so possibly every game will be vital and keep the punters rolling up the Dyke!
