    fai.ie has no eL newsfeed

This relates to the perceived lack of support in FAI for Irish senior level football.
I went looking for an FAI newsfeed to replace the much-missed Irish Football Online, and found that you can have one for the fai.ie front page, boys in green (naturally), schoolboy, women's, and Setanta. But they haven't bothered with one for eL, FAI Cup, or League Cup etc.
Of course, they will claim that this is an oversight (a bit like their continuing to call our club 'Bohemians FC') but if so it is a telling one.

You cant rely on the FAI to fill the void of IFO. Johnny Wards, Soccer Central and IFO were all labours of love and that why they are so good. The FAI wont have the same commitment (not a surprise to anyone, we've been saying it for years).

It would be good to see a site appear with contributions from several (if not all) clubs in the league, with fixtures, tables, previews, live updates, match reports, league news etc.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

And why cannot some other group of EL fans take over the good work done by those who went before?

Thats a valid point there. The archive on IFO was a very handy resource, and any new site wont have that. It would have been great if it had been continued on by someone else and keep the continuity

You can still view old news items, for example- http://www.irishfootballonline.com/news/7406.html.

With several notable exceptions, the quality and quantity of club press releases is woeful.

Despite it being a requirement, a number of clubs, including DCFC still fail to send out weekly email previews etc.

True. Read recently (probably here) that one club recently sent out a match poster in lieu of a match preview.

I'm certainly no FAI flag-waver, but I clicked on the Eircom League logo on the top LHS of their site and accessed a lot of EL info.

The point that BohDiddley is making is that none of that information is available as a newsfeed, which are a big part of websites nowadays.

I agree that there is a decent level of coverage on the FAI site, once one has clicked on the eL link (promoted to it current position after some prompting here). But why haven't they bothered to RSS it, as they have done with everything else?

To be fair, they do have an RRS feed in place.
