    Dundalk FC 1 - 1 Athlone Town

    fai.ie

Dundalk and Athlone Town are still looking for their first victories of the season as they drew 1-1 at Oriel Park on Saturday night.

The visitors took the lead two minutes into the second half with their only real attack of the game as Andy Mullan headed home from inside the area after Stephen Gavin's header had come back off the post.

But just four minutes later, Dundalk were level Chris Lawless headed home after Paul Curran's shot ricocheted around the area.

    Teams:
Dundalk: Gallagher, McCartney, Isaaka, Curran, Sean Kelly, Sliney, Reddish, Simon Kelly, Haylock, Markey, Lawless.

Athlone Town: Moran, O'Brien, A Kelly, Shine, Jackson, Holt, Gavin, Mullan, McCann, S Kelly, Collins.
Subs: Frawley for Jackson (64 mins), Molloy for McCann (82 mins).

    Referee: S Meighan (Dublin)

    Wrong Choice Jimmy!!!!

I think Holt should have been in instead of Collins or Kelly in the centre of midfield. These three players should be competing for the two midfield positions. Dropping Molloy to the bench was taking an attacking option away that we could ill afford, it also served to unbalance the side.
