Why are they collecting for the publican when he already chose his most favourable outcome... to ensure the guilty parties got banged up for 3 months? After all his building & contents Insurance will ensure damages are covered? Just in time to accomodate numerous marching bands with UDA flags on Lundys day the week before Christmas.

I know what you're saying but as a PR gesture from decent Bohs fans it works!

Is there any danger with Bohs collecting money for the publican that they are in some way suggesting they are responsible?

Fair play to him. it would have been too easy to have taken the money. Nice to see the scumbags get what they deserve.

As - I hope - the final installment in this story, I copied and pasted this from the Bohs MB: (Posted by Bionic Bohs)

I would like to thank everybody who helped with yesterday’s handover of the money collected to Kingsley Curry in the Tavern Bar in Derry. I would particularly like to thank PigBodine for organisational work, BARD for getting the Directors to support the initiative, LukeO and Neil for getting the bus of Bohs fans there, Gerry Houston for organising the Derry City fans, most of whom were visiting the Tavern Bar for the first time, and Dotsy for filming the event for a future BohsTV piece.

The event was a great success, and was a very emotional occasion with Mr Curry and his customers saying they would never have believed that there would be such a mix of people in their bar. There were fans and directors of both Bohemians and Derry City mixing with the usual customers of the bar, plus the Mayor of Derry Drew Thompson of the DUP, Councillor Sean Carr of the SDLP, and Dean William Morton.

On behalf of the Bohemians fans, we presented Mr Curry with a thousand euro cheque and a Bohemians jersey. We also gave him a letter from the Lord Mayor of Dublin, which I have copied below. On behalf of the club, Denis Maher presented Mr Curry with a club pennant and scarf, and invited him and his wife to be the guest of the club for our Cup Semi-Final against Cork next week. Mr Curry also gave us a china ornament with an imprint of the Guildhall of Derry, and he, his wife and his staff put on a very welcome sandwich buffet for everyone there.

We got a lot of direct media coverage yesterday, including live interviews on Radio Foyle and RTE Radio’s Drivetime programme, and a recorded piece for the BBC Northern Ireland Television News. We may of course get other coverage over the next few days. But more importantly, we brought together a group of people who would normally never have met, including for example one Republican who had not been in the Tavern bar for thirty years, and we made a lot of new friends for future visits to Derry.

We also heard first-hand from staff and customers who were present when the bar was attacked, and they certainly went through a very frightening experience to which they reacted courageously and which outraged people throughout the City. Thankfully, while the people of Derry will always remember the attack on the Tavern Bar as a violent crime on innocent people, they will now also be able to associate it with the positive goodwill generated by everybody involved yesterday.

It was a function room/back bar. There was food laid on and everything. £2.30 a pint too!
