Well done to everyone involved - a cracking thing to do. Rather than divide people, it seems the actions of those who trashed the bar has actually helped to inch people closer to together - north and south, and even within Derry itself.

I think I've only ever been in the Tavern once in my life - and that would've been about 17 years ago. But I'm gonna to pop in when I'm back at Christmas to have a wee nosey and see if they've got the Bohs penant up yet...

I hope the City fans there can keep a wee dialogue going with Mr Curry and help open a link for the club into the residents of the Fountain as well.

Great stuff to see all round.

I hope your taking the **** steve! A lot of scum frequent that bar! You would feel intimidated walking past it when they're out smoking.

We'll there's one way to find out Bucky.....

Five people in there when the Bohs fans trashed the place - incl 2 Canadian tourists...? Aye - wile intimidating place......

Sure half the bars in Derry would terrify you if you saw their clientele hanging out outside...

Come on now BP - don't ruin Bucky's perception of the place.

Maybe it just attracts intimidating sorts to it's doorway for an aul' feg......?

Wouldnt walk past that place even if i was a champion power walker with a helmot and body armour, anyone who thinks any different is either not a realist or living in cloud cuckoo land. Try visiting outside of public relations hours without the media present !

I've walked past there literally dozens of times - including in much, much rougher years than these are.

No media present, no public relations, not even a tourist in sight. Not a hint of trouble nor even a sinister look neither.

Have you been in the bar yourself Dortie ?

Lets just say i wouldnt entertain anyone or any place that permits UDA/UFF flag waving bandsmen into their establishment every year, whether it be burn a tricolour night on July 12th or burn a resemblance of a traitor night during the month of December.

Not to mention a self proclaimed 'Loyalist' bar.

I was just trying to offer u a bit of sound advice ya arrogant f**ker!! When the term loyalist bar is used in this case, we aren't talking about constitutional loyalists! If those 4 bohs "fans" went to that place on a saturday afternoon they wouldnt make it through the door! But u go right ahead steve, lets hope you get what u need!!

So how do you know what it's like on a normal afternoon or evening outside of Parades times if you've never been there....?

Maybe it is just normally a bar with 5 fairly inocuous locals and the odd Canadian tourist....

    Thanks for the advice Bucky.

I'll try to put a jumper on over my Wolfe Tones T-Shirt and remove my Easter Lilly before I pop in for a nosey.......

The fact that it hosts and welcomes such punters twice a year is enough to tell me that the usual inocuous locals dont have a problem with sectarianism. Or do they drink somewhere else on those occasions, i think not.

What about the random Canadian tourists. Are they also now confirmed Orange bigots...?

Does that mean that everyone who drinks in the Bogside Inn (a much, much bigger bar) and the numerous other bars that those attending Republican rallies like the Easter Parade in the Bogside go to therefore all also have no problem with sectarianism...?

They used to always collect for the Republican prisoners (PDF) every Sunday on the grounds of my local church when I was a kid. Would that therefore mean that everyone who went to Pennyburn church also has no problem with sectarianism, for example...?

As Bob Dylan wrote "The times they are a'changing". It's usually best to at least try to keep up with change.

I am certain the tourists are not orange bigots, just in the wrong place at the wrong time unfortunately.

The Bogside Inn or Catholic Church has never labelled itself a 'Republican Establishment', not to mention publicly in the media, unlike our local 'Loyalist' establishment.

As for Bob Dylan, im sure many a fan was easily brainwashed with his ideology ! Thankfully i was never a fan.
