'Twas in the Evening Herald last night. Wasn't really getting a look in with us and on the official site was put in the reserve squad. Played a few friendlies but to be honest didn't look great...

He's a centre-half by trade Macy. Surprised he hasn't worked out for Pats actually, I thought he was gonna be one of the bargains of the season!
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Yeah he's a centre half but played right back a couple of times in pre season and didn't look comfortable there. Big and strong though. According to the official Pats site http://www.stpatsfc.com/latest_news.htm he's gone to Longford on loan

Cheers, but FFS why are we signing yet another central defender when we're crying out for a decent centre midfielder????

and at that is as superior an option on the left as anywhere in the league... outside of WesH and Cahill... so we're two short in the middle... Avery or Barry has to push up methinks... The squad is a little unbalanced... short in Midfield...

I've bin waiting for avery to play in midfield since he came.I remember him playing in midfield for bohs, would someone please back me up on this cos no one else remembers him playin midfield. All the same i'm happy enough with McGovern hes only 23 and 9 goals in 4 games speaks for itself
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

I dont know what the story is but mathews seems to be adament that Avery wont play in the middle. He had loads of oppertunity to try him out there before now and didn't.
As for McGoveryn, i remember him in the same U21 team as Fergie. He's another big man from the same mould, i remember QPR trying to sign him a few years ago when he was with Arsenal and they thought a lot about him, must have gone downhill somewhat since.

    McGovern

Saw him in a couple of friendlies at pats and unless it was just a case of him not being arsed putting the work in over here I thought he was poor to be honest, if he gets a kick up the arse he might just apply himself for longford

but showed absolutely nothing while with us
