O’Flynn puts Cork top
Longford Town 0-3 Cork City
Cork City moved back to the top of the eircom Premier Division thanks to two goals from John O’Flynn.
From the kick off, Cork City dominated possession and looked dangerous with every attack. Longford were in trouble and their supporters in Flancare Park could see they were in for a difficult evening.
Cork earned their third corner on the quarter hour and O’Flynn rose the highest to head in a Billy Woods in swinger for his fifth league goal in just four starts.
Longford nearly hit back eleven-minutes later when Sean Francis got into a great position but screwed his effort agonisingly wide and that was the last real chance of the first half.
Just two minutes after the restart George O’Callaghan put the visitors two-up. O’Flynn was once again involved, this time as the playmaker, when he played a perfect ball into O’Callaghan’s path for the striker to score from six-yards out.
Cork were in complete control at this stage and further stretched their lead on 54-minutes when O’Flynn was gifted a second goal after some horrendous home defending.
