    Thumbs up Denis Behan

10 goals in 7 games. Club record scoring in last 7 games. In the form of his life & getting goals he would never have got in the past. Probably rescued our season.

Defo. I thought City would miss O'Donovan in a big way but Denis has put you guys back on course. At the cup game in the Cross a couple of weeks ago a lad I was talking to said the Cup was going to be the only way into Europe. Behan scored that night and hasnt stopped and it looks like you can get into Europe by finishing second.

I dont want to rain on the parade here but to be honest, its long overdue from Denis. I am normally reserved in criticism of players as i dont think it does anything to help the situation so now is a good time give the other side to it.

He is/was a very frustrating player, and parts of his game which are poor are needlessly so. There is a huge margin for improvement in his overall game, his passing and holding up the ball, chasing down players and defending from the front, even throwing his weight about, he is a big lad but you wouldn't even know it when he's get muscled off the ball by players who are half his size and his fitness at times seemed questionable.

I think under Dolan, being brought on for the last five minutes in games was never going to help him improve so i'd discount that whole time while at the club. Its under Rico when we actually got to see him in action properly and initially there were times when you thought that he'll be a great player but it just never got to a level where you said 'yeah, he is coming good now. He's on top of his game' when he was being picked. He was then third choice for long stretches and when he came on didn't make the necessary impact to keep his place. Flynnie injuries and Roy leaving have really worked in his favour and he is on a brilliant run of form now. Pity its coming to the end of the season.

Question is, will he carry on from where he left off next season? Will he be firing on all cylinders from the start of next season? Only time will tell. One thing for sure is that now i am certain he can actually do it but just needs to work at it. We'll have to wait and see.

Obviously he won't be able to continue scoring more than one goal a game.

The players around him need to play to his strengths - play the ball to his feet & not in front of him. His problem in the past was consistency as he has always been able to do it in once games such as the tile decider in 2005 at home to Derry.

But what the guy should do is go off and get a personal trainer for himself and work at different parts of his game. Something that he could work on in the off season, after a good rest obviously, is plyometrics. Its something that would give him a real advantage and almost immediately as well. If it gave him an extra two seconds every time the guy could absolutely destroy some of the teams in the league.

He is a confidence player as well to a certain degree imo, and if something starts going consistently right for him i think his overall game could come good as well.

How long before the "Behan for Ireland - Keane is crap" threads start?

I think he deserves great credit. I have been impressed by him any time I saw him this season, Cork fans may know better but I always wondered why he wasn't getting a start. I had a 'howya, can I park here' chat with him at a game before, and he suggested that rather than risk getting a ticket, I go around the corner along the cemetery. Just struck me as being a nice bloke, best of luck to him and hope he hits a few more before the end of the season, need the likes of Cork and Derry up at the top of the league, and his goals should see the Rebels do just that.

For the record, i was only commenting on his game. The guy himself is a seriously sound bloke.

And remember City have had our fair share of few players who, to be complete honest, were complete and utter tw*ts, just blantantly bad mannered twits.

Denis is a genuine bloke and gets on with everyone, fair play to him.

Supposed to be a bit of a joker. Heard some of his recent "material" in training & you got to credit his sense of humour. Might explain why the team playing better recently too.

Every time Denis has gotten a consistent run in the side he's done well.

He's too often judged on cameo appearances thrown his way when we're chasing a victory and a draw and are completely reliant on him doing something spectacular in fifteen minutes.

There are aspects of his game that need improvement, but if we can see them, so should the manager, it's not up to Denis to go off and hire a personal trainer to improve his game when CCFC have a staff being paid to do that exact job.
