Wireless Internet

Forgive my ignorance of this but just need to ask a few questions for people in the know.

I just moved into a house that has wireless broadband and I was wondering what do I need to do from here to open up the internet on my laptop at home? At present I get a 'content not available, work offline?' box so I was wondering if I need to get an Eircom Disk or something so that the internet opens up for me?

I realise in this day and age to not know this is practically a hanging offence too

I'm far from an expert, but I did get eircom BB a few weeks ago. For each pc in the house I installed the disc, basically, it seems, because there's a security key to allow access.
Other than that any relatively new laptop should have all the wireless gizmos as standard.
