    Rovers Away

    Predictions?

Huge game for both Clubs on Friday night.I'd expect a big crowd for Rovers and hopefully a hefty travelling support for UTD aswell.we need to try and get as many as possible to get on the road for Friday. It's crazy how so many people who go to the home games don't bother going to one away game all year.Would be nice to get 200+ on Friday.

Anyway i reckon we'll win it.We're playing good stuff at the moment and we always match Rovers-Friday should be no different.they're the best organised team in the league though so all the players need to be up for it or they'll take the 3 points handy enough.

    Prediction-Rovers 0 - UTD 2 .

Here's hoping we avoid the usual late winner/equaliser from Rovers to.

    Last year.....
    Rovers 1 - UTD O(90th min)
    This year...
    Rovers 1 - UTD 0(88th min)
    UTD 1 -1 Rovers(90th minute equaliser)

Well there are small issues like work, family and finances that restrict a lot of people, so its not quite that crazy

i think it will be close - a score draw - as united have been creating plenty of chances of late but rovers arent up there near the top for nothing

I hope TC reminds the players of these results. It's time to put one over them!

UCDD lost 4-1 to Cork tonight, we could catch them very soon if we keep going like we have been.

They still look way better than us. They were hockeyed in the end but they had some great passing moves but I think there is a lot of hype created by their fans about the quality of some players. They went downhill after 20 mins. If we man mark them and dont let them settle we'll take them in the last game of the season. Cork were considerably better than they have been in recent times. Kearney was on fire and Leon McSweeney has great potential too.

i gotta go with the draw.

it will be our 5th draw in 6 games,i had winning bets on 3 of last 4 draws.more importantly we are good enough to beat these guys and we owe them a beating too but rvs have this really annoying habit of getting late goals.
    prediction 1-1.

Rovers have the best defensive record in the League. 14 goals conceded in 24League games. We have scored 22 in 25. It points to a 1-0 or 0-0. Hopefully I'm wrong. At the game in Tolka back at the end of March we were well and truly robbed and deserved a point as a minimum. It would be great to see Derek Glynn back amongst the goals..and Flynner went very near against the Drogs, so here's hoping.

The main asset Rovers have this year is their fitness. Scully has them super fit . When some teams are fading in the final quarter Rovers are still firing on all cylinders. Purcell just keeps running and running. We are starting to build a head of steam ourselves and we need fear no one anywhere. Just remember lads its not over till its over!!!!! See Squares post. 1-0 Utd.

Good point in the stand but surely there are no excuses for a full time professional club not being able to match their fitness??

Couldn't agree more. It better as three go down. This was all part of the boards planning I reckon. We have two seasons in which we can establish ourselves as permanent top flight football and that time is here and now. Once next season is over whoever finds themselves in the basement is gonna find it extremely hard to get out and more crucially stay out.

Why yes you may. The team is quite new with quite a few first teamers just having arrived in the last few months so they will improve the more experience they get in the team. We will be established as a serious team and will therefore be able to attract high caliber players.

I don't quite see the relation between a full time set-up and being able to deal with squad turnover. If anything, the full time set-up should make this adjustment quicker, as players have more time to get to know each other. I know there may be some kind of transition period, but I don't see why it would take a long time for going full time to give benefits.

As for Drogheda- I'm not sure what the point is here. They kept firing more and more money at their squad and eventually this looks like paying off, albeit in a year when the competition in the premier is unusually low (at the top end anyway).

The original point was that GU should be at least as fit and probably much fitter than Rovers because GU are full time, and I think that point stands.

Yes it does and both myself and inthestand firmly agreed on that. But for any team to go full time and be League winners within a season is daft so at least one or two seasons should see a team competing at the top and that is what is meant by full time footie paying off.

How many you bringing down friday lads? More than likely you'll be in the main stand near the ballybough end.

Just got a text from Fox's offering free Guinness for the rugby!
