As a regular to the Annes road end of the X I think the criticism directed at this end of the ground is unwarranted.

Firstly.... it is perceived by some that unless you stand in the shed with Moses the rest of the kids that you are not a true supporter. The fact that it’s more than a few years since a original chant has come from the shed and even more concerning is the serious lack of volume would have you wondering have their voices broken yet. Week after week the Corner Boys, even though fewer in numbers, have shown the pretenders in the shed that they have more flare and originality.
Just because people in the Anne’s Road end do not sing the same songs as the shedites doesn’t justify the ****e that all people on this end of the ground are fly by night supporters.

Tear down the shed it is becoming an embarrassment and a liabilty

Yeah .... but you are generalising, and contradicting your first point. There are other supporters in the shed who are not under 18, sing and dont even like Moses. You are making a sweeping statment and it is very hard to respond to it. All i'll say is move more towards the shed/other end of the cross next time and you will be able to observe better, thus make a more valid point.

Point taken ..... but i you do realise that more noise comes from the Annes end for the five minutes that the chipper van starts its engine to go in and out of the ground, that during the whole of the game from the crowd there.

As Conor, different horses ..... The debate over the shed/corner/support is more of a "who is making the noise and creating atmosphere" ..... St. Anne's doesn't come into that so i wouldn't get so wound up about it.

Thanks A Face.....from a shedender who sings his heart out at every game, is well older than 18, tries to start original songs, starts songs and can't stand that ****** moses......

as for annie.....you complained about generalising the fans at the st annes end yet you respond by generalising the fans at the shed end..... ....dude we are all city fans and we are all in for the one cause.....

Geeze lads sorry if I touched a nerve....but it is high time to take a reality check.

It is years....since we have witnessed the true magic of the shed.It is not my intention to tar everyone in the shed all with the same brush....and yes i know we are all there to support city....but it is pityful to to see the shedites being out sung by a handful of away supporters week in week out.

I do realise that the acustics of shed and the high roof are not what one would call perfect but measures must be taken......level it.

the away supprters are right on top of you at the st.annes end, and the way that sound bounces off the roof of the stand means that it echoes even louder, shels and bohs make way more noise at away games than they do at home because only their die hards travel. so they're bound to sound loud compared to the shed one hundred metres away, especially on days it's more subdued.

i've watched a good few games from the st.annes end last season because i was getting sick of the shed, but in the end the lack of interest shown by many of the supporters there got on my nerves. especially the derry cup semi last season when a few of us tried to get a bit of life into the place and were repeatedly told to sit down and be quiet. it's a fairweather suupporter part of the ground in terms of the vast majority i'm afraid.

whereever i sit watching city i become wound-up and engrossed in the game, and the annes end can suck the life out of any game, mainly due to the people there. i don't mean you personally, moreso the people who were there for the bohs game and won't be seen for drogs or ucd or longford.

the shed was great on tuesday. when we were behind we got behind the team and Dolan and even Kenny said it spurred City to victory. what game were you at?

Obviously it easier to hear the traveling support on the Anne’s Road end of the ground and I agree that the low roof flatters vocal support but that does not excuse the poor performances of the 'legendary Shed'. There has been tremendous strides made with the flags and the drums and this definitely adds to the atmosphere but this is from a select few.
It is admirable to see you shedites running to its defense and one would expect nothing less but the truth is the Shed is a spent force. For it to be suggested that fans on the Anne’s road end to be sunshine supporters is unfair. As last season came to an end I am sure you witnessed the thinning of not only the crowds on the Anne’s road end but also the Shed. It is also a fact that the sporting public of Cork are very fickle and the gate receipt trends from recent seasons prove that...they will follow you up and down the country when the results are good but in times of poor form and results these 'fans' cannot be seen for dust......and to say this element of 'support' is predominantly on the Anne’s road end is just utter waffle.

Even though i am what you call a new recruit, I think your being very very harsh. After all you yourself used to go there but because you thought it was s**t, you left and thats fair enough. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But just because the people in the shed enjoy it and you didnt, you feel you have to look out for maybe 700 people. There are a lot of grown men up there and well able to look out for themselves. They dont need babysitting. And if you dont have something good to say, dont say anything at all.

to be fair annesroadrebel i wasn't having a go at those that head into the annes end every game, and i know a few who do except when it rains and they seek the derrynane or the main stand. no offence meant at all. i'm not saying that the annes end supporters are sunshine supporters, just that sunshine supporters tend to head to the annes end, big difference there.

i guess that it's harder to get people who only go occasionally to show the same passion as the rest of us, but would i sooner have them there and the money in city's hands or do without them, definitely the first. i just wish we could get the whole ground on their feet every now and again.
