great idea from shamrock rovers. let the clubs govern themselves we dont need the fai dicating to us what to do... the atmosphere was class on telly last night what side of the ground were the germans on?
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
There were a fair few Germans at our game as well - can't imagine many of the Green and White Army go looking for local football* the night before the 'big' game
*though of course, in most countries there wouldn't be local premier games the night before an international.
A patriot is someone who knows how to hate his country properly.
Haven't used flares or smoke since the away game in Drogheda earlier in the season when we were fined. If the FAI fine the two clubs for making the league look good on national TV and to 1000 visiting supporters it will be a disgrace, but then again I'm well used to ridiculous decisions from the bumbling idiots in merrion square![]()
I thought it was the german supporters that had the flares !!The FAI should fine the german FA for the unacceptable behaviour of their fans !

Fair play to Rovers on the German initiative. There is a small interest in the ELOI among genuine German football fans. We have had a few visitors in Belfield over the years from Germany. You tend to get a bit of interest in the summer during the Bundesliga close season, some people even coming to Ireland to see some football . Must be suffering from withdrawl symptoms, anyway whatever the reason we in UCD get a fair amount of Germans who want to see the only University in Western Europe playing in a Premier League , do it in person so to speak.
Speaking personally I like to check out local football when possible. I have been to two Romanian League games in the same weekend during one weekend for example.
many of them with Galway United scarves
On the bus in from the Airp[ort myself, I was giving bus numbers to English visitors and German fans off to Dalymount.
Fair play to the random Bohs fan who stepped up to the plate and made the souvenir shop announcement in German![]()
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
You can see all of them here. It would be great if all clubs could do something similar.

Thats ours, highlights/interviews usually up within a day or so, also has some other features and old footage of Bohs...
c. 1,000 Germans ?!?!That's a superb result. Well done Rovers.
You could see quite a few German flags around the ground - though I have to say, it didn't look like a 4,000 crowd on TV.
Any feedback form the Germans on what they thought of Friday night's match ? Was there no U21 international game on ?
Fair play to Rovers for the idea, and fair play to both sets of fans for impressing them aswell.
There was about 30 Germans at our match on saturday too. A very friendly bunch of lads.
Cmon County!
That makes sense - the stand opposite the camera looked about 95% empty.
Weird how we always seem to have camera at EL games in the very stand where all the fans are (though I guess on both counts it's because they're usually the best stands).
Was there no U21 international on Friday ?
