    Great idea from Rovers

Hats off to Shamrock Rovers who are promoting their televised game with Drogs with a poster in German as it will be the same weekend as Rep of Ireland V. Germany at Croker.

    http://www.shamrockrovers.ie/pdfs/ma...ans-poster.pdf

I hope the German fans don't hear Scully's usual barrage of vulgar expletives that he usually shovels out from the dugout during games.

Good idea - well done Rovers (haven't been heard to say that too many times to be honest!).

It's about time clubs started being a bit more 'pro-active' about things so bravo (or whatever it is in German).

    Great idea.

I hope it won't be seen as a soft target/'bit of fun' for the rougher edge of the German fanbase though.

Yeah I remember some German neo-Nazis over for a game against Pat's in Richmond before.

Rovers presumably already have some sort of link with Greuther Furth anyway as they play in Green & White hoops.

Fair play though good idea to get more to the game.
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

Well you remember wrong. When we played Pats at Richmond in January 1999 a few Duisburg fans came over for the game as they have a few Hooped friends. Incredibly Dolan went to the media saying that we had neo nazi fans. He subsequently apologised but the damage was done.

There were a few hundred Germans in with us at dalymoan when they played at windsor a few years ago. St Pauli fans in with us at the League Cup semi there this season.

No trouble and anyone who suggests otherwise is a WUM.

Definitely a good idea. We've had tons of Germans at our games. Lads who just happen to be over on holiday. A few Feyernoord fans over 3 weeks ago too

Brilliant initiative by Rovers. We had something similar when people with tickets to the Welsh game got a concession to our game vs Cork, but I don't know if it had much of an effect on the crowd. This seems like it could get a good few Germans though.

It will be a massive game either way. Should be one of the biggest crowds of the season.
Fair played Rovers, prob the most advertised team in the LOI.

Good idea indeed. They just showed the poster on TV and showed what seems to be a fair few German fans at the game. Nicely done!
Edit: And a nice few flares and smoke cannisters too to use up that extra revenue. Ah well, easy come easy go!

Well the attendance was 4041 of which an estimated 1000 were German. As well as the poster circulating around the internet we had people handing them out in Dublin Airport to all the Gemans coming in and we had people handing them out in Temple Bar too.

Message to the FAI - See what can be done with a little effort and initiative. You should be doing this kind of thing every week promoting the league.

Thats a class idea in fairness. Christ this League is really run by muppets, imagine what we could achieve if it was actually run by people who gave a **** using iniative, brains, marketing and a bit of money!!

I have also downloaded clips that Rovers make available on some website of the highlights of their games, the quality is A1. A lot better quality than TV3 clips which says it all really.
