Wearing the green and white would have been a dream come true for some Bohs players![]()
Stylish touch in fairness.Bohs were offered a kit from a local junior side but they turned it down because it had green + white hoops!!!! Didn't want to play looking like Shamrock Rovers.....

For feeck sake there is no similarity in the strips. Blue is waterford white is bohs away. Anthony Buttimer is a bloody clown!!
there is absolutly no difference between the bohs away kit and the waterford away kit, only that bohs have navy bits on the sleeves, and a very light blue line on it. an absolute joke. for some reason bohs always just bring their away kit to away games even when the home kit isnt clashing! very rarely do they use their home kit away from home
Well you reckon wrong then.
What apparently happened was that Bohs were advised (who by I don't know but I was told League officials) that their home strip would cause a clash under the floodlights, apparently purely because they're both dark. That don't make sense to me either, so don't shoot the messenger.
They quite reasonably then brought only the away strip, that they've used several times before, only to be informed by Mr Buttimer that he wouldn't allow it because of the blue sleeves.
A replacement kit was obtained at short notice from local side Villa FC which Bohs wouldn't wear, in both senses of the phrase, because it looked too much like some other team they apparently don't like.
Finally Bohs agreed to a replacement Waterford kit, apparently in the nick of time.
Neither club can be blamed, except in that Bohs wouldn't wear the green and white. Instead, seemingly a combination of over-zealous administrators and officials made a mountain out of a molehill.
Any suggestion that the fact that both teams played in Waterford's colours had anything to do with the game finishing scoreless is merely scurrilous tittle-tattle.![]()

The thoughts of bohs wearing green and white hoops made me laugh. Shame it coudn't have happened.
Just a thought here, but do Waterford Bohemians not wear black and red stripes?
Bray ended up playing in Cork's away kit.
In all fairness, it sounds like then officials made a right balls of things last night.

It wouldn't be the Eircom League without a couple of farces like this per season.I know the refs in the league are bad but are they colourblind as well? How would Waterford's blue strip have clashed with a red and black Bohs strip?
There's the right way, the wrong way.... and the Max Power way!! :-D
very unprofessional makes the league look very silly
I wish i did not know then what I dont know now
RBA, think you may need to change your user-name...
Revenge for 2002
Hardly, Bohs wore their away kit which is all white, bar the jersey (which has navy sleeves). Buttimer said the navy sleeves clashed with Waterfords blue strip which is why we only changed the jersey.

We also had our home strip with us but Buttimer only had an all black strip with him; therefore causing our home strip to somehow clash under the floodlights![]()
I thought that the team are required to bring both home and away kit just in case of such scenario's? I think our kitman brings both.
For sure. Boez didnt bring their home gear cos they were saving it for tonight.
Thought 4-0 flattered us friday. Take a look at Myler's last goal tonight for an example of their shocking defending though. And Dundalk lost a great night!
We're still on course for the UEFA Cup which will be a marvellous achievement considering where we've come from in less than 2 years.
