    Drive for new songs

    Any budding Paul McCartneys out there? After the fantastic trip to Slovakia and Czech republic (bar the results and results in the bar) we do need some new tunes for the terrace. While stand up for the boys in greeen and come you boys in green etc do create terrific atmosphere, a song about the players themselves would make us sound like a more organised fan base. So all you budding songwriters get busy!

    "he's small;, he's fast, and Cech forgets the past, Stevie Hunt, Stevie hunt," ....

    Dont want to come across as insensitive tothe Stephen Ireland situaion, but I seem to remember a song from top of the pops back in the early 80's:

    'grandma i love you
    grandma i do,
    even though you're far away,
    i'll be home soon.....

    It was all that pilsner Urqell that had my voice out of tune.

    'Whats that comin' over the hill,
    the honey monster!,
    the honey monster!'

    ...a quality homage to Richie and was beginning to take off over in Czech.

    For a main song though we do need a new one. At the moment the mainstream songs that the everyone sings are only about 4 (Stand Up For The Boys in Green', 'C'mon You Boys in Green', 'The Fields of Athenry' and 'Ireland,Ireland etc ' chant. A new one needs to be simple and probably have 'Ireland' or 'Boys in Green' in it. Stand up for the Boys in Green has only become widespread in the last 3/4 years or so, I think it only really took off after Paris '04, so it is possible to get a new one going in modern times.
    <insert witty remark>

    "Stand up for the boys in green" is particularly naff by the way.

    Especially after being sung for the umpteenth time in a bar either before or after the match.

    I'd quite like to drink my pint without having to stand up and sit down repeatedly....

    What about a new old favourite, "On The One Road". It'll never get to the end of the first verse mind...

    The best song from the trip has to be ;

    "One Hare Krishna, there's only one Hare Krishna"

    We should really adopt this.

    Just to see the looks on peoples faces, if nothing else.
