There's a seedings thread in the Ireland forum. We'll more than likely be third seeds. Nine groups; think 13 get out. Nine winners, worst second place is out and the other eight play off.
Great, well we're not gonna top the group unless we get a soft first seed. So it'll probably the playoffs for us at best, its harder to qualify for a WC than a Euros.......so much to look forward to.
When you think about it, two qualifying campaigns ago we were FIRST seeds, look at us now, there shouldve been a good period of success since 2002, not what we've had.
Which makes the present situation even worse given the last 3 qualifying groups we were in - hardly groups of Death ! a real missed opportunity It should of been easier to qualify

Well we'd need to start qualifying for tournaments to improve our co-efficient rating. It was at its peak after WC2002, when seeded we had Russia and Switzerland to deal with.

I'd say the likes of San Marino, Cypress, Faroe Islands etc are praying that they get Ireland in their groups. Easy win for them.
the draw for the qualifiers for 2012 WC is on 25th Novemeber.
There's going to be 8 groups of six teams and 1 group of five teams.
The 9 group winners qualify. The best 8 runner-ups go into a home/away playoff and the 4 winners advance. 13 teams from europe in total.
I reckon 7 points from our remaining 3 games (Played 12 Points 21) should be enough to place us in a 3rd seeding pot.
