    Another 150 for City apparently.
I think WUFC not selling them on the night means a lot of casual blaaas won't be in attendance and the limited supply and manner of distribution has turned lots of City fans off.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

Im glad to see their going to actual fans rather than people stuck for something to do on a saturday, to say that people wouldnt bother going to a shop in town to buy a ticket is a bit depressing to say the least

I have to say............Waterford are in Trouble if they cannot sell out a Home Cup Quarter final with a capacity of 1200.

Especially when there was 400-500 away fans present.

Capacity of the stand is 1240 and there were approx 400 C/\wkies there in attendance.

I guess we can also count the linesman and make it 401.

Thanks for your insight there Pablo, but I think most of us were aware of that already. There's a management committee working their nuts off to keep the whole thing going, and the response from the general public is widespread apathy.

    It beggars belief really.

Whats the reason? Is the ground too far out? Not enough locals in the team?

Or more probably the fact that they're playing sh!t, and look likely to be relegated ahead of a team who started the season on minus 6pts....?

That 'locals in team' excuse is a hoary old chestnut that the Sky-brigade love. Strange how people only care about the number of locals a side has when the team is playing crap.

Yeah but they are more likely to support local lads who are struggling?

I dunno, its just a sad state of affairs when they can only sell 500 tickets for a Cup Quarter Final

Good rearguard action being fought by the Cork fans who feared that thousands of their fans would be locked outside the RSC....

Nothing to do with the location of the ground. We were hitting around 1000 a game a few years back, in the first division.
A combination of what Steve said (although not just this season), and the fact that the club has lost a lot of local goodwill with the way it has handled it's affairs in the past.

Personally speaking, relegation would be no bad thing - rebuild the team, new stand, start winning games, build up the support again.

No-one likes supporting a struggling team. That's why crowds are directly related to performance/success. A local struggling team is no more asppealing to the vast majority of latent fans than a non-local one. At most, it'd add a handful of friends and family onto any gate - not enough to make any significant difference. The whole local thing is just a smokescreen excuse.

The same people who will tell you there's not enough locals in the side will tell you a season or two later that there's not enough exciting/glamorous players in the team instead (i.e. foreigners). It's a non-issue that is only used when performances are poor. Cover your ears and ignore the idiots...

I don't know Steve. A few years ago, in our effort to píss a lot of money up the wall we were flying in no-hopers from the UK. The consensus then was that at least a few local junior league lads would show a lot more heart and commitment to the cause. There's a balance somewhere in the middle.

Can't we just leave this lads, in fairness
I'm not sure the Cross will get a huge crowd tomorrow either, despite it being a cup quarter final.

I think we'l have an awful crowd tbh.

Any 'casuals' who watched the game Saturday on tele arent gonna be enticed to come out.

Poor year for our attendances all around.

That's different though. Having local players with more pride in how they play is different form having supporters allegedly more willing to support a team actively.

Passive/latent supporters are interested in results and success first and foremost. That's why you only see them appear during the good times. I honestly don't believe they're that bothered where the players come from. Except as a ready-made excuse to justify their glory hunting/sunshine supporting when someone asks them why they don't follow the team any more.

Isn't it strange how no-one seems to give a feck where their players are from when they're winning trophies. Hmmm....

Out of our current squad, most of the out of town players play with more heart
